It's been fun, but today I bid farewell to my pride and joy! So sad to see it leave but it was the right time to sell.

Just thought I'd say thanks to everyone on here, been here around 3 years now and even though I'm a bit of a lurker, I met some good people and got lots of great advice!

James

What are you planning on getting now, another import?

Yes, still want a performance car, but something newer. Stuff was starting to break on the R.

But I'm undecided - FD RX7, RX8, S15, 350Z, R33 GT-R, R34 Gtt, Evo 7, WRX? haha

if ya know ppl to import you can bring in a version 6 (theres 6 versions of the fd i think its only aus we call them s6/7/8) fd for around 30K (can only bring in fd made after sept 99) also evo8's are similar in price :( i miss my fd nothing better looking for the price on the road!

make sure you get a RS not a RB

i have found a few low K 20-40K km's version 8 (2000-02) models for around 20-24K in japan add the norm of 5-7K of bullshit to get it on the road here!

yeah shame the 350Z and RX8 are so terribly slow. I looked at buying both of these brand new, but they are so slow it is sad, and even mild mods which will increase power by a small margin are ridiculously expensive.

So are you going to get Pomfus to join the forums James? I thought I'd see you guys at dinner tonight?

Go the R34GTT or if you can afford it a V35 with twin turbos .... the latter is what I have been thinking about getting

Seems an FD is a popular choice! I've never even really seen one up close let alone driven one, I wonder how they would compare to the R. Evo's have the worst interiors I think... Am yet to drive an RX8, sad to hear they are slow!

Petes already registered, don't think he posts that often. I forgot all about the dinner last night.

R34 GTT is a definite option, I didn't know V35s come with twin turbos? That sounds awesome!

    • Currently at 380rwkw with 2860 -5's & b cams on e85, trying to make it have a bit more torque/usable power down low.    Ive googled the v cams and most sites say discontinued, is there anywhere you can still get them?
    • Most hardlines are available new still. But unless they're rusted to the point of needing replacement you can just zinc or cadmium plate them to keep them going for decades to come. Regarding the turbo drains it really depends. Braided lines might be better if it's a straighter path than OEM but I would not assume braided teflon lines will never leak. Teflon is a very durable material but you can still abrade, erode, or otherwise compromise its integrity. The return hoses on the bright side are not that hard to access relative to a full turbo removal so if things go wrong you can always put it back to stock. You can very easily drive yourself insane analyzing every little change, or maybe that's just me.

    • Very happy with mine and I think you will be hard pressed to find someone that isn't happy after installing.  Is it the best value for money vs other mods (eg 2.8 stroker) hard to say.  If you are building an all out power motor above 1000hp+++, it's probably not for you as you will want bigger cams.
    • Cheers man, I'm almost a little bit relieved in a way. Let the trouble shooting begin!
