Fortunatly it was just me.

Looks like repairs will take a while, the repeier is booked up for over a month ;)

In the mean time I need to track down replacement parts for the non genuine bits (intercooler, neons, mags, front bar) so that we can see if its economically viable to repair. :D

Jared, what happened to your ride?

Incident with a truck last week, my fault unfortunantely. Was in a slip lane with heavy traffic, thought he'd backed off to let me in, turned out he couldn't see me until it was too late. Costly mistake.

Caved in the rear quater but it's fixable without cutting metal so could easily be a lot worse. Will get it soughted in a few weeks. May even stick it in the Auto Salon

Howdy Guy, I haven't been on the forums for a couple of weeks and was shocked to hear about your unavoidable accident. I'm relieved to hear that you came through it all unscathed.

That sort of behaviour on public roads is just plain unacceptable as are people who are too cowardly to fess up to their mistakes. Oh well, whoever it was won't get away with it.... Karma has a way of restoring balance and I'm confident that they will pay for it one way or the other.

Good luck with the repairs and I hope it won't set you back too much. Last year someone hit my car while it was parked in the street and just drove off, no note. Even though I was comprehensively covered, paying out that bloody excess ($1100) really hurt at the time. No fair. Cheers, Mike

thats gold steve

x2

lol

good luck with the repairs, neon ftw. lol.

must admit I was never a fan of that front bar..... hope you find something thats quirky and different but yet nice. I reckon something like a lancer evo front bar would look decent on a skyline, or perhaps a GTR type front bar. dunno. I guess I like that kind of shape as my Dayz kit on the stagea is like that.

what sort of cooler are you after? there are some good buys in the group buy thread. or ebay (japan)

Whats all the grief about neons, dont u guys know they are fully sik. LOL

Dont worry, I dont drive around with them on, they are more for car shows etc.

I am asking the insurance company to provide a Greddy intercooler and plumbing (price is great value at around $700)

Instead of neons I was going to get the LED strips

I am waiting on conformation on a Trust front bar (they are not listed in the latest Greddy catalogue - but they may have 1 or 2 in old stock)

Rims are my next issue to sort out - still trying to price 2 rims for the car, but I may put the money towards a different set.

good luck with all of that.

Umm, 2 x Work wheels for $200 from JVP, stagea sau user. a top bloke, chat with him on msn all the time.

You heading back to Des Higgins?

If so, you know it will be worth waiting.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune mate.

At least it's just property damaged not person.

thats bad to hear mate, especially after you just had it repaired.

  • 4 weeks later...

Got the call today, the car is a write off (economically - parts were over 15k)

Next steps will be to determine if its worth buying the wreck (depends what dits people need to salvage) and to look at what else is out there. I think my payout figure is $19,000 and i know there are a few 34 sedans going for around 16k (depends on the condition - im a fussy bastard) Alternativly i may import something.

    • Reasonably hard, although I haven't run it with the new Endless setup yet. The old brakes were F50's on 335mm rotors and the car did a 1:40.6 at Phillip Island which is a reasonable time, I'm seeing high 600s on the temperature paint. A guy I know ran the Endless fluid at WTAC without issues and he was doing 1:33's I think (Evo) with a 355/332 setup. I don't get out to the track as much as I'd like but we put the car on the hoist and spanner check every bolt and re-paint mark everything, bleed the brakes, change the fuel, check the coolant system and re-bleed blah blah blah before every event. Motorsport is expensive, RB's are expensive so a couple of hours before an event is time well spent. It's also a net time saving because if you can keep your RB from self destructing it saves you time in the long term!
    • Welcome Alice......hope you have a bit more luck from here on! What was done in the build?
    • Hello! I'm new here, I have an R33 GTST that is currently being finished up! Last year was pretty rough, blew two stock turbos so I decided to build the car. Has been down since November, but I get it back next weekend!
    • Hello, I believe my car was imported to America in the 2000s by Kaizo Industries. Would anyone be able to help me find more info on them? I've only found all the basic stuff like that paul walker bnr34, them being shutdown by feds, just stuff like that. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
    • I am using Motec M150.  I am not working on the car myself actually.  My workshop is giving all these info, they are quite reputable in the industry and are very familiar with Motec and RBs and have done a few big setups with VCam and single turbo on RBs.  In fact, they built and tuned my engine from day one.  But they are stumped with my engine at the moment and cannot work out how come the compression is so low with the VCam. They told me that they have now swapped in some Kelford cams (without the VCam) and can achieve around 130psi compression and the low end torque is better, but now the engine is doughy as.  It boosts and peaks at more than 1000rpm slower, with twin HKS GTIII RS, it doesn't get full boost until over 5000rpm. I have always thought the VCam was a bit disappointing at the low rpm. To a point I had to ride the clutch a fair bit to get up a small hill from stand still.  That was when I had a clutch.  Now changing to a 8HP, I don't have that luxury and this problem has become a major issue. I am beginning to think the VCam never work since the day it was installed.  Maybe it was just sitting at the most advanced point, that is why it went good at top end but very ordinary at the bottom.  Therefore, with the help of the Holinger 6 speed and paddle shift, as long as it was moving, it drove pretty good.
