hi guys'n'gals

since i've changed front bars, i've had issues with my stone/splash/bash tray, whatever you want to call it. It no longer has the factory holes to clip to anymore, as i don't have the factory bumper, so....

just wondering do i actually need it? Is it really important to have that protection there to stop crap from bouncing up into the engine bay?? cos it seems like all it's doing is acting like a big air collector.

I've had zip ties holding it to various bits, but the other day i gave it a bit of stick merging onto a freeway and pop, bang, scraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaape..... lovely. Tempted to chop it off, unless i really need it.

cheers,

chinny

hmm

smooths the airflow..

to actually feel or notice a difference ull be needing wind speeds of over 200kph as measured by my good nerdy friend...

i take them off on all my cars..

even inner guards.. less weight.

less shit to fall off later..

well inner guards do protect harnesses.. but asif u would trust the tape job on the harness by nissan lol..

the inner guards protect the underside of the front panels though.

not as important on GTS-t's i guess, but good insurance against little dents from rocks on GT-Rs

isn't just trapping the air though, cos it's kinda shaped like this if you're looking at the car on the side.

with the lower line being the tray, and the engine above it. The reason mine is dragging is because the cable ties i've used weren't enough to hold it there under hard acceleration, and high speeds, and it's pushed the tray down onto the ground.

Given that, isn't it all it's doing is acting like a parachute of sorts??

if it wasn't needed, do you really think Nissan would have gone to the time and expense of engineering and manufacturing it?

The best part about having it there (IMO) is the fact that it stops crap flinging up off the road and shortening the life expectancy of the belts.
