you may gain a very slight amount of power, but that would depend on a few things. if the car isn't hot then the clutch fan isn't fully engaged so it isn't using that much power. on a hot day when the clutch fan is fully engaged you would gain more. but then you would be putting more strain on your alternator.

on the down side, on a hot day you may run hotter with the thermo fans, as the clutch fan is better at drawing air than an electric fan, so if your car runs hot already, you may cook it by running thermos.

Common thought that, but my understanding of viscous fans are that they stop drawing air at higher RPM when the natrual air flow from the car moving cools the radiator.

I have also found unless you buy a very good thermo fan the stock fan is much better at low RPM like traveling in traffic.

As mentioned above you may get a very small increase depending on the size of the thermo fan, as even if you do remove the stock viscous fan and replace it with a thermo fan your alternator has to work harder as it now has more load to cope with from the electric motor of the thermo fan.

Im looking into thermos.

I hate that old skool fan whirring sound - especially when you first start the car and its cold.

My old car i replaced the fan with twin EL ford Thermos. worked a treat and kept the car so much cooler than stock fan.

Setting up the temperature sensor took a while.

I might have a go at fitting a twin thermo setup from a late model ford.

that way i can ditch the front thermo altogether.

More room for an FMIC!
