lol, do you work in advertizing :mrt:

I'll probably come down for a look.

no, but im one for trying to inject a bit of theatre LOL. :P

and stu, im praying it will be dry. ill have to use the road tryes if it isnt.

Get ready for the rain!

Those garages at Symmons are gonna be good value.

launni isnt like hobart stu it doesnt rain every half hour :P

hmm should be good. im doing a few things during the day but i reccon ill pop out for a look. there is also a mega cruse on sunday so i gess that will hinder a few spectators.

they can mega cruize to symmons!!!

I'll let Briggsie and Rosco fill everyone in on the details of the day, but we had a disappointing day with the Mark Perry Just Jap R32 thanks to a turbocharger failure.

Qualified third while bedding in tyres, but it was all over for us by the hairpin of the first lap when the turbo let go reeling in first place. This is the first time the car has ever left the track before the last race, but all will be fixed for the next round.

I was out there for a look till 2:30, looked like a good day for the skylines (Mark Perry aside). How much grunt does that bloody VL have? It just powered past everything in a straight line.

We gunna see the RX7 out soon stu?

i went out for a late look aswell as i had heaps to do and it looked good to me.

id been helping kerry out on his skyline over the last week so i wanted to se that run. it looked a good out there and it was good to see so many 32s out there. they are a top car.

sav_man - The VL is impressive isn't it. The RX7 maybe at the final around of the year at Basky, but certainly the first round of the '08 season.

DJRIFT - The R32 GTSt is the perfect budet track car. Its cheap to run, reliable and quick with only a reasonable spend. Mark's R32 is understood to be the first GTSt racer in Australia!

Commiserations to Mark and the other runners who had trouble. Im dreading my turn.

I will have a report up on my site tonight. Had a rather boring run actually. Q 9th, R1 6th, then 4th for the other 3 races to finish 4th overall i think.

Apart from the first race where i was trying to catch Bob in the Honda and Scott in the Escort i had a pretty lonley old time. best part was in race 2 i think, i went between 2 cars down the back straight and then passed Leigh in the Evo in the space of about 150 meters. went from 7th to 4th in one go. That was the highlight. Leigh had clutch problems i think. I couldnt catch Ross this time. If i was 100 meters in front of him I would of had a chance but it never came.

Its looking good for more power come the next meeting though. got to be carefull with a standard turbo aswell.

A good day for the Skylines with the exception of Mark's of course. Q 6th, race one 4th, race 2,3 and 4 finished 3rd. Took 3rd place overall for the day. Had a great battle with Lucky in race 2 and rocketed off the line in race 1 and 2 only to have both the races red flagged before the end of the first lap. Very happy with the speed of the car and looking forward to some fresh rubber, both John and I were running on rubber down to the canvas.

One desire of mine is to see the race prepared Skylines sitting in peoples garages, out on the track competing in the TSS. It's some of the cleanest racing in the country and to have as many Skylines in the field would be fantastic.

As much as i would love to do that i couldn't even afford to have a budget cage put in let alone do everything else to the car for it to be any bit competitive >_<

Maybe its time to get my act together and find some sponsorship and make my debut

Heard it was some great racing all day and its a pity i missed it, i was planning on being there to help pit for someone but circumstances changed earlier on in the week ending with a very sad note :(

Looking forward to the next round and hopefully see Perrywinkles car back bigger and better than ever :P

The R31 Coupe driven by Kelvin Maxfield was certainly quick and I guess will only get faster.

My race prepared Skyline has been sitting out at Pro Auto for the last few weeks. It will be ready this week and better than ever so I will definitely be at the next TSS round.

Cheers.

Who is doing your cage Leigh???

the over all expense and a role cage is all that would hold me back. but as my car progresses im sure it will see a cage.

I know the roll cage is probably the the single most expensive purchase to go racing, but after that it's all down hill....

Once the cage is in and you have the other safety items installed, you can go racing. To grater belief you don't need to have the car as fast as she can be or have new race rubber or the latest "go fast bits" ect..ect.. JUST GO RACING. Half the thrill is actually being out there and giving it a go. Learn the craft, become a better driver, have a s%#t load of fun and then... When time and budget permits, take the next step.

Life is too short! I have stuff all money to go racing, so does Briggsie, Perry, Maxfeild..... The list goes on. You simply don't need a V8 SUPERCAR budget to live the dream.

JUST DO IT! While you're still living and breathing.....

    • Hey guys, Just thought it might be of interest to owners of the RB25 det NEO motor, that awesomeness Nitto are in the late process to produce an engine gasket kit by end of Jan 25.  I think obviously there will be an 25det kit too. cheers, Ian
    • He is around but doesn’t really do automotive stuff anymore, mainly does commercial work now
    • Shortly after I do the usual full exhaust/ fmic/fuel pump/ R33 turbo and still get flogged at the lights by i30Ns
    • Is Chris from Craved Coatings still around? He is an ex SAU guy and did great powder coating (back in the day at least)
    • Bumping this thread yet again, has anyone ever tried putting yet another vacuum regulating valve on the hose that goes between the turbo inlet? Something local owners have mentioned is the Radium breather pipes de-restrict the valve cover but it actually produces an undesirable outcome in practice, way too much air is sucked out of the crankcase and a ton of oil comes with it as well. As far as I can tell the PCV diaphragm in these modern euro wet sump performance engines is active during boost as well, there's just a check valve to block boost from entering the valve cover and crankcase as there's no inherent check valve function in these diaphragm-type valves. Hopefully I'll be able to try some of this out soon. The Volvo XC90 4.4 V8 has a nice external version of these things.
