i am getting some really bad fuel economy lately have been pushing to get 320km be for 3/4 empty mark. with full town driving. not overly heavy right foot

Dude thats not actually that bad.

You'll find most R34's will get about 120km per 1/4 line on the gauge, and if you are doing that you are doing well.

So 3/4 you'd maybe expect 360 which is very good, and if you are getting 320, I'm pretty certain thats fine.

At your rate you are probably getting 12.5/13L per 100km.

i just filled mine up, R34 GTT manual.

So far its about half way down between the top and line below, and its done 105kms

nice... that's what 8-9L/100kms? All highway driving?

You should keep a petrol log though.. mine usually lasts a little longer on the first quarter than it does on the last two quarters, the lines are not really an accurate measure.

nope. mostly town driving howie. apart from just after i filled it up. i did a 20 minute stint on the highway. so its going alright. but yes the gauge is now dropping faster then before haha

on the drive home from picking the car up, my fuel consumption was great. I think I could have made brisbane to rocky on one tank. which is 700odd kms. Was extremely impressed with its highway consumption!

I have minor mods (filter, fmic, boost cont.) at the moment and im getting about 430kms before im in the red! Thats city and country driving on premium fuel. Pretty happy with that compared to other cars with similar power range!

Hi All,

Just wondering if the R34 Neo RB25DET fuel consumption is similiar to that of the R33 RB25DET? Better or Worse? just wondering if the VVT side of things made any difference? My r33 gtst was getting about 380-400kms tank (no thrashing mainly highway driving).

thanks.

I can get about 450 or so if I drive sedately with no AC. Mine is totally standard though. I have had closer to 500 on a freeway drive though. I was quite surpised at how efficient it is compared to my old GTR.

Found this somewhere, hope it helps

They look like factory quotes.

I dont know how factories come up with these figures, even with other non Nissan cars they seem grossly underestimated.

  • 2 months later...

Sorry to revive an old thread but only just recently i bought my R34 GTT Auto.

I have a S14 SR20DET Manual also. I get around 500-600kms to a tank in the S14 and im pretty sure they have a 65L tank also. I have a few mods on this and running 10AFRS so quite rich lol.

By the sounds of it most u guys just fill up when the fuel light comes on, now i no it not the best to take the tank down to the last tiny bit of fuel left init but in my S14 i got an extra 70kms to a tank without it chugging or anythn when it hit the fuel light.

Are the pick ups on the stock R34 pumps high??

At the moment the fuel econmony im gettn in my R34 is a bit poo really. ONE BIG QUESTION I HAVE IS-

I try use tiptronic to use the revs more when taking off at lights etc... eg. Instead of having to put your foot into it more just in nrml auto mode i take it to bout 3,000rpm in 1st and 2nd gear with HEAPS less throttle and get to the same speed about the same time.

Has any1 seen a jump in better or worse doing this??????

THANKS

I have a BCNR33 RB26 in my GTT with the stock GTT pump... running leeeean and I hate it. I use 98 octane for fuel. I get about 290 on long, spirited drives on the highway. I can get around 380 on more conservative highway drives. When I get about 1/8 tank of gas the motor will start chugging and stall inbetween shifts so I have to lightly pop the clutch as I drive and give it a little gas to maintain idle at stop lights... yes, it sucks. Hopefully this problem will be fixed and I'll have better fuel consumption after I put in the Tomei 276 l/hr highflow pump next weekend
