So I got a little bit silly in the wet today (in fact about 10 minutes ago) and got particularly sideways by mistake in my R33. I hopped a (thankfully) small kerb and (luckily) plowed into a pile of wood chips - part of some public garden. I backed out, straightened up and inspected: I think my rims are OK, but once I got home and hosed all the wood and junk out of the front bar, I could see that the bar is pretty well munted. Got a few MAJOR structural cracks in it, and I'm just hoping it stays put until I can go see someone to replace it. The steering is also way out of whack to the left now. The lights and everything still seem OK though.

someone going the other way pulled over to ask if I was OK which was cool, but the thing that REALLY BUGGED ME, more than the bingle itself, was that some bogan wearing a beanie and driving what looked like an R31 stationwagon (do these exist?) pulled over in front of me I thought he was doing the same as the other person - seeing if I was OK, but I was already pulling off the kerb to head home. Anyway, as I went past, I wound down my window to see what he had to say, and he's guffawing it up and pointing saying 'sucked in!'

Now, fair enough I got silly on the go pedal, and I accept that with good humour and the knowledge of an upcoming hit to the credit car. Most of the ppl I've met from on here are nice, but you sir, if you are reading this, are a CNUT! Just remember karma buddy, something's gonna come and bite you in the a55!!!!

Anyway, happy b'day me, yay.... heading out to Trojan now to see what they've got in the way of bars....

Actually I just got a lift home from Trojan... turns out the bar is the least of my worries, the left rear hub is buggered, and that's what they could tell just from looking, there will probably be more :(

At least the bar can apparently be fixed, doesn't need replacing.

Damn, sucks dude. f**king bogans, gotta love to hate them. funny thing is, since I own a Datto, bogans always yell to me things like "GO THE DATTO!!!" Its a Nissan/datsun, whats tyhe difference. I f**king hate them.

End rant

bogans are what they are. They wont change. They'll still where the same HRT jacket, smell like smokes and OP.

Although I do work with one, and he's quite the character! Good bloke, and makes mean buffalo wings.

That sucks dude

Happy birthday!

its pretty slippery out there.. and if your mond aint on it, you can end up like that..

had a similar situation on my way to work this morning... just off in my own little world, and as i was exitin a roundabout.. the car seemed to be at about a 60-60deg angle..

Now.. VERY unintentional.. wasnt even trying.. so.... be careful guys..

there is an extremely good plastic welder/repairer in queanbeyan who specialises in cars and front bars. if its not too bad, he should be able to fix it.... he did a repair for me on my old mx-6 and did a bloody good job of it. PM me if you want his details, as i cant recall them atm....

Yeah I learnt from it alright: Respect the car's authoritah!

Found out today: yep, left rear hubs munted, also the lower control arm. Rest looks ok. They mentioned the cradle which scared me a bit, but said it was fine. Apparently my other bits (shocks etc) should arrive Friday/Monday. They've got a plastic welder/painter etc nearby they use a lot and I've given them the go ahead for everything, I just want it safe to drive and back on the road. So with any kind of luck I'll have it back later next week/early the following.

i hate people that do that, especially when you've pulled over on the side of the road and cockheads drive past "eyyy buy a holden"

.... f*kn bogans

personally... i'd rather kill myself, and they should too

How ya going dudes. I'd say that guy was pissed that even thou ya had a little slap into some woodchip. Your car was still better than his.

    • Actually,  just remembered there should be info in the threads (somewhere) about swapping to a manual steering rack and deleting power steering all together.
    • Also had a look at the Nissan JP website looks like the 400r has a slightly shorter ratio than than the regular V37 3.133 VS 2.937 which from a guy who has driven both 3.69 vs 4.11 ratios in the S15 is bugger all. Seems that the AUTO Z runs the same ratio as the 400R but can't find any info as to if its an open or LSD? More often than not the auto LSD is open
    • Do not replace the power steering lines with this stuff. If it's anything like the Chase Bays stuff it will leak and be worse than stock. The reason why the reservoir is on the LH/passenger side of the car is because that's just where the reservoir was most convenient to fit. Don't overthink this stuff. The intake/cold side of the engine is pretty busy on these cars. And again, the hardpipe is designed to be a janky power steering cooler. In theory you can replace it with a real power steering cooler but that's really only for track use where boiling the fluid is a distinct possibility. Start with the low pressure lines feeding the pump from the reservoir. Make sure there isn't a bunch of junk in the reservoir filter. Be careful to not get ATF all over the engine bay. I hate dealing with ATF spills, you can clean it up and the slightest crevice will still release more oil that can still drip over time. You also want to inspect for leaks before you make a mess and can't tell what happened. Most likely you have a leak somewhere that is allowing fluid out and air in. Failing that it's allowing air in but not fluid out. Only place I can really see that happening is on the low pressure side because the pump will pull a slight vacuum to draw fluid in. Everything after the pump is high pressure or lower pressure, approaching atmospheric by the time it returns to the reservoir.
    • I did a skidpan night at SMSP this week, it was much cheaper than $350. But yeah, you need to slap an LSD in that thing.  I put an OS Giken in the 370Z and it's f**king MARVELOUS even compared to Nissan's viscous LSD. So you're saying it's free now that it's a housing estate? 😂
