mostly hightway driving?

how can you get 600km....i wish i have that man..

im mostly city driving a lots of traffic light and get

300km per 50litre before cleaning injector..

Majority is highway with about 100km per tank of petrol city driving (have to drive into Canberra to get petrol :()

Only mods are the turboback exhaust, everything else is stock standard.

I was getting around 350km a tank when i first bought it but after changing the oil a few times it started making it past 400km a tank, a few weeks ago i changed all the filters it went up to 480km and then when i put the exhaust on i made it to 600km. No idea how it works or why it happened but it wasnt just a one off, I just filled up then and it worked out to be around 580km. These aren't full to empty readings though, its going by how many kilometers i have done (reset each fill) and how much i have to fill up to get it back to full, so unless the car uses more petrol as it gets lower it works out right. On the 600km tank i did 220km and filled up 24L, full tank is 65L, 65L/24L*220km= 595km.

Its incredibly easy to get fuel economy on a highway..

Recent trip to Albury.. 8.8Lts/100kms which equates to 738Kms to a tank

soon as i hit the city the fuel economy is anywhere between 13-16lts / 100kms

ok... hightway and city driving is complete different story right?

ill try mine on highway someday lol

so if you change all old filters, get more fuel eco?

i just changed oil filter twice since i bought the car.

i bought it about 2month ago, changed oil and oil filter at first time and changed again 3days ago when i having a injector clean

not sure its right things to winging about fuel while we driving high performance car which is skyline... but its so bad when other people whos got same car and get much higher fuel eco.... even with more power....

!@#$%^!@#%$@#%^&%^%$

!@#$%^!@#%$@#%^&%^%$

The people with more power/ using less fuel most likely have had their cars tuned..

Skylines run rich from the factory and get worse when you start modding (i think?)

Even a SAFC will make a difference..

and yes highway is completely different because you arent using the turbo

I got 550km from my tank when i drove it back from townsville...haven't seen that since. Getting round 300-350, with the occasional boot full. I use BP Ultimate or Optimax(which has been changed to v-power here.

DAM, best i have gotten out of mine was 33ltrs after doing 200k's.

For a full tank i might get to 250 for 45-50 litres around town, the previous owner said he was getting around 320 a tank but that was never boosting it (has a standard turbo) i did a highway trip last night, filled it up before i left, is at 1/8th of a tank now and i have done 320k's, will get litres when i fill up today.

The one thing this thread is missing is the ways to fix bad fuel economy.

Its an R33. fmic, exhaust, pod running standard bov and standard boost on 98ron.

R33 GTST with mild mods (standard turbo, injectors, fuel pump)

using 98oct BP ultimate

average driving to/from work is about 450km i think it's a 60ltr/tank

and around 500km+ for freeway driving

i would get max of 350km/60ltr if i drove hard >_<

hhmmmm

thats weird

i use shell v-power and get more k's of that than i do off bp ultimate (this is going back a few months)

havnt tested it recently due to clutch slipping, never hits boost

But i was getting 350-400kms per 55L tank, with daily work driving, and goin out 2 or 3 times within the week, along with sat night goin out, so wasnt too bad...

What would be certain things that increase fuel efficiency ??

O2 sensor ??

fuel pump ??

anything else ?

not bad if you asked me..

bp ultimate fuel

mods:

FMIC + POD

DUMP + Full Exhaust

stock computer etc

R33 S2

try injector clean

as ive done recently and fuel consumption had been improved about 2 or 3 less litre per 100km

i had 16 or 17litre per 100km before and now getting around 13litre per 100km

my mod is bov and air filter thats it.

scan you vehicle and if there are nothings wrong or faluty do clean your injector.

injector needs to be cleaned every 70k or 50k

the cost is around 280 to 360. most of the cost is labour

if you can take the injectors out, take them out youselve and take them to mechanics. for just clean them it wont be expesive

nothing technical when clean them if they have machine

cheers

paul

hey guys,

i've heard that there isnt any point in high octane petrol?

if u dont go thru ur whole tank in 7 days

the octane decreases down to 95 unleaded anyways?

., hhaha i dont go thru a whole tank in a weekk...

does anyone know nething about this???

btw, use nulon inject total fuel cleaner (yellow s15 at the front), top stuff

very very VERYY good.

    • It makes you wonder, all these people starting to make a billet replacement head, I wonder if any have thought about trying to adapt tech from newer engines into them. You're already at the full design stage to make a billet head... Why not really spice it up and had some more modern tech into the mix too...
    • Connect all the plumbing up properly. The actual worst part about having the turbo unable to actually build boost, is you can and likely would over soon the turbo if you drove the car (free rev while stationary isnt likely to manage it).   If you do have an air leak as Duncan suggested, you'll have a bad time as the AFM will be saying different to reality.   As you have had the engine out, I'd go over all electrical connections again. If you have a consult cable, plug it in, and see what the ECU thinks is going on. Did you touch the timing belt? If so, double check your timing on the gears is correct AND put a timing light on it while it's idling and see what ignition setting you have. Is the AFM you've installed the one that was in the car previously? You said you replaced seals, what seals exactly? What have you had apart?   From memory when I had my RB25DET with factory throttle, there was two plugs the TPS plug on the loom could go to. One would leave the car running like shit, the other made it work, I think one plug on the TPS area was for something else (an option). It's too many years since I saw that part of the loom to remember properly though.   Is the car idling smooth (as smooth as an RB can)? Does it smell fuelled up?   I have a feeling either timing in timing belt is off, or a sensor isn't right.
    • Theres still skid pan and motokhana days up in QLD at least that are $100 or less. The ones that are ran as "driver training" less so, they're expensive, but just normal skid pan days like SAU ran are still low cost. And thats one of the places I learned to be a lariken, purely by asking for passenger rides, and how people were doing crazy things. Reese gave me plenty of pointers back in the day for skid pan! And yes Duncan, I will never forget your pointers for track work. Especially after Neil got out saying "I am NEVER getting in the car with him again!" 😛
    • 49719 is the cooler loop. Right at the front, LHS of that diagram. Return line from rack (LP side) goes to cooler loop on RHS front of car, then back under engine and returns to bottom of tank. 49717M is feed from tank to pump. HP line out of pump is thick rubber, followed by the hard line that runs down to crossmember and runs in parallel (but opposite flow direction) to the LP return line. Nothing goes anywhere near the firewall or interior of car. The closest they get to that is the connections on the rack.
    • Thanks, plan is to drain all fluid tomorrow and do smoke test to find out the leak.   Appreciate your help and want to understand how the system work. So cooling is achieved by the long loop not any rad? The diagram seems to suggest it connects to somewhere inside the cabin and I thought that is a cooler inside firewall. If you look at the diagram it seems to show it connects to something inside firewall. I tried chasing it but not easy unless I take loads off   i am confident pump is good as fluid goes in and it gets soft( steering) but as soon as I turn engine off , loads of bubble come to surface and overflow. When engine is on , fluid level is below minimum but when off it shoots off and thinking it is sucking air in. I suspect aluminium pipe may have a crack line or whole   smoke test with no fluid should be a good start and if needed will remove the pump   In addition, the one going under the engine bay is high pressure line and one directly connecting from pump to resorvoir is return/ low pressure?   finally I searched and suggestion is to use dexron 2 but that is discontinued so bought dexron 3 as all research suggest it is compatible and shouldn’t cause any issues/ blow seals. I bought two liter of dexron 3 motul atf
