Hey guys reading a while ago about vin numbers adn i remember some one sayin if its smooth its all good but if the writing was rough that it was most likely stolen in jap and imported to aus.

Now i kno this has been talked over but i cant seem to find the org post.

I bought this car less than a month ago if it does come up as a stolen car what can i do ? it was bought from a car yard and has warrnty and all the above crap.

can i take them to court ? can i get my money back ? whats the deal

all the japanese vin numbers are stamped, so the numbers/letters will have grooves in them, it wont be 'smooth' when you put your fingers over them if thats what you mean, you will feel the grooves... it would be also done by a machine, so if they look a bit dodgy thats a different story. i highly doubt you have anything to worry about, as cars are most likely to be stolen and re-badged here than in Japan and you also bought it from a car yard.
