I think NSW, along with most states, don't let P plate drivers drive cars with over 200kw.

saw this list too, didn't have the 350gt in it. the 2009 updated list on the other hand....

Hello, :/

My name is John from Sydney and I am a new to this thread.

I'm planning to buy a 350GT in any time soon...(will post a pic soooooonnnnnnnnn~~)

Just a quickie:

Who provides your insurance and how much are you paying??

Hey guys I have a v36 350gt insured with AI insurance full comp plus gold club membership for 900 very cheap compared to shonnons who quoted me 2900 and just car 2400 my Skyline is a 2007 model hope this helps

Only one problem with AI, no own choice of repairer. They have a list of 1000 repairers, according to their FAQ, for the customer to choose from.

No thanks. I'm paying Shannons $2700 a year for my '09 V36 coupe ($55k agreed value) and that's good peace of mind for me.

I used to be with AI insurance and I could choose any repairer.

Their price was good, but NRMA offered better price :)

The only issue I had with AI was the time it took them to process a dispute that I had with a repairer. The repairer did a poor job with clear coat and it took AI about 4-5 months to follow it up... Very frustrating.

But when the initial accident occurred they were fast :)

Hope it helps!

I can choose any repairer have done so with my previous car and specified this when insuraning my new car

Well i feel like someone just stuck a rubber fist up my anouse after i just got my renewal papers from NRMA, so the cost is $1580, the car is insured for $18,700, $800 excess. Now last year when i was 22 and 1st got the insurace i paid $1600 and the car was insured for $22k with same excess with no multi policy discounts and this year im getting a $220 multi discount cauz i now that the green slip with NRMA also.

I think insurance has gone up across the board.. the insurance for my wife's J31 Maxima jumped from $400 last year to just over $600 this year.. we haven't had any claims or accidents. I rang and complained and they dropped it to about $550..

Insurance doesn't normally get cheaper because the insured value is lower..

I am a little scared about my up-coming home insurance renewal..

I rang just cars they wanted $1600. Called NRMA got it for $1200. I know alot of places won't insure under 25 especially when they here import like it's a dirty word! Anyway my car is registered in my name and insurance is joint (my partner and I) but they were going to insure it with just his name on it even though car is registered to me. Didn't know that you could do that. Plus my partner has had is lic suspended in the past.

My insurance went from $988 to $1819 so WTF .... and value went down 2,300 ....

just car is 1248, nrma beat by 10% with windscreen cover @ rating 1, 1 at fault, 26yrs, licence since 18, no bad record $1,123 with value at $30,700

will do bit more shopping around

so just got my renewal papers from just car.

last year's was:

12 months: $1,011

agreed value: $31,500

got quite a shock when i looked at this years agreed value

12 months: $962

agreed value: $25,200

trying to figure out how the agreed value dropped so much, makes my head hurt pinch.gif

When i was with HBF they had a 20% drop in value every year for all imports. Was just their standard policy and I had to provide an independant valuation to get the agreed value increased.

    • I would paint match the whole thing to avoid unwanted attention  I had a similar bonnet, paint matched, on my old R33 GTST, but mine was a fibreglass jobbie made by Blitz in QLD, they work extremely well for radiator efficiency and under bonnet temps

    • small update time, after always wanting a "cool" looking bonnet for my car and always struggling to find one for the series 2 that i liked and wasn't an insane amount of money. Saw one i liked on RHDjapan from D-speed in Japan the price was very good for a carbon bonnet so good infact i was a little unsure how much i trusted it, decided to bite the bullet and with the help of jesse streeter in not long at all it was at my door. Once it was delivered i ran in from work and quickly unboxed it and to my surprise the quality was actually pretty good i quickly removed the old bonnet and placed on the new one to test it out and even the fitment wasnt too bad at all. Then decided to paint the little grille in the bonnet black to stop it sticking out so much.   I decided to not mess around with the hood latch and just install some aero catch hood pins, having never installed them before did some YouTube university classes and i was good to go. fair to say it is not a fun job at all from making brackets so the pins sit nicely and actually cutting through the bonnet but also being very scared of cutting the holes too big it took wayyyy longer than i would like to admit but finally got it there. Then it was time for a quick test drive to ensure the latches actually worked and thankfully the bonnet looked very stable. I still think paint matching the bonnet and leaving just the part that sticks up as carbon would help make it all look alot neater as im not sure how i feel about all that carbon on a very fridge white car but will leave it as is and see how i feel with time.
    • I think it's bound to happen, you finally get it all perfect, and bam, something will happen. I took a while to get a Commodore rear quarter repaired where a P Plater clipped it. Two days after getting it back, Sarah wiped it out on a concrete pillar in an underground car park... This is why I take forever to repair them, it stretches how long until it gets bent again... 😛
    • Nah, not really responsible for that little fiasco, but I'm still pissed at myself for writing off my 86, or when I reversed my VX into a pole just before selling it, but, meh, 5hit happens to stuff, all it takes is a slight distraction, and life is full of distractions, and "dooh" moments
