thats what happens with 2nd hand gear... we have all been there. You can pick up std ecu's from about $50 and if your lucky free from many places... most workshops will have them lying around.

Remmeber front cuts are usually for engine swaps not so much damage repairs, should have really checked what was there when you looked at it. 99% front cuts are pretty banged up panel wise as they get put in the container on top of each other. Remmeber these cars come from wrecking yards and there is a reason they are there...... i buy ALOT from import wreckers and you just need to be wary.... just like you would be shopping at pick-a-part.

The panels i got weren't meant to be on the half cut, i knew they would be useless. They were meant to have them in stock (they said they had them in stock). It was only after the 2.5 hr drive and got there that they actually looked and realised that they didn't have the stuff.

It also isn't really that much of an issue that the ecu was no good it was the fact that i'm sure they knew it was no good, and if they didn't they were bastards about it when it was no good.

I bought a replacement SR20 redtop from Rolin Imports to swap into an s13 that spun a bearing. Payed cash deposit at an ANZ bank, and the engine turned up on my doorstep later that week. Im in Sydney, rollin is somewhere in QLD. Not bad I thought.

The engine came as promised on a half-crate, wrapped in black plastic to protect it from the elements. The engine was clearly labeled NO LUBRICANTS as to not destroy it on startup. I gave the engine a basic service - timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, thermostat, oil, filter.

Its now a bit more than a year later and the engine is still running sweet and is showing no signs of unhealthiness. I couldn't recommend them more.

I think you got very lucky just having an ecu problem which is easy to fix. Ive seen so many cases of front-cut engines being totally f**ked a few weeks after being fitted to their new body's, or having weird noises or unhealthy compression...
