Water Temp Guage Not Working

hey all, i have a r32 gtst and my water temp guage has bassically stopped working..

i had a spare cluster so i took the water temp guage out of that and put it in and it still didnt work...

i then tried changing the sensor.. i think it was anyway... it's located on the inlet manifold where the top radiator hose joins.. there are 2 sensors.. i believe the one with the larger plug is for the ecu and the other with just one wire is for the guage..

bassically the guage will only go up 1-2mm not even past the C..

how clean is the plug that connects to the sensor?

try cleaning it out with contact cleaner or pushing the metal clampy thing inside the plug out with a really small screw driver so it comes into contact with the sensor alot better.

Disconnect the wire from the sender and ground it to the chasis, check that the guage shows full deflection (H)

If it does you atleast know the guage and wiring is good.
