Yes in the standard ECU the knock sensors can force the ECU to a safer second map.

No aftermarket ecu uses them automatically but at least the power fc uses the signal to run a warning light

One could get the function back by using an after market unit. NZ Link make one, and as much as people say about them, you could setup something pretty fancy.

Use the 5 LEDs of the KnockLink as inputs to a Haltech. Switch maps maybe, even flick a mosfet and make the AFM see 5v (to over fuel it)

Just noticed they make an amp called a Knockblock One could use the 0-5v signal again, to input into a stand alone ECU, or use it to fool a Trust, PFC etc.

Autronic SM4 has individual cylinder ignition trim linked to the knock sensor circuit, very fancy it only retards the pinging cylinders, and i believe it can also be set to feliver a little more fuel to that cylinder as well

But can it retard ignition and add fuel as engine load increases due to wind load, through a ABS wheel speed sensor?
