it's an r32 dude..not r33

so why does it have the r33 GT badge? not to mention that you have turbo brakes + 5 stud, so it's a gtst - so the blue badge isn't standard anyway.

next couple of weeks where a RB25DET will be transplanted into the bay along with ECU + gearbox etc to handel the new engine.

Kind Regards Hamish..

nice work... transplant seems the way to go nowadays with RB25DETs going for around ~2K, spend another ~2k to freshen the engine up, another ~1k for new turbo... and you've got a solid 200rwkw'ish.

Yeaha well i can't wait to have it done i really wanted a gtst in the first place however, i couldn't go past the looks of my car now n well i thought i could just turbo the NA engine without much trouble, then i researched around a little got a few opinions and relised it was better for mt to just fo the transplant as it will be a more reliable engine then the DE + T. So i should all be beggining in the next week i hope, sucks having the car off the road. But if people are interested i'll keep ya'll posted?

a car is only as reliable as it's tune or how you drive it.

keep us posted. it should be pretty much bolt out, bolt in. the loom + sensors should all be the same (if not very similar). plug in an ecu, boost gauge, and there you go.

might want to consider a brake upgrade while your at it.

Thanx Eugine is it? Yeaha will keep ya;ll posted it would be one of the easiest conversions ever! should be a mean little car, i'd love to do a brake upgrade but not sure how u going to go about is as my pockets will be burnt out if ya know what i mean.!!

i have an RB30 block sitting here just waiting for it to be done... i just cant bring myself to justify the money for it.

MAN! Stop sitting in front of the computer and do it!!

Dont be a sheep and go the piss easy turbo road!.. Every single Skyline owner/wants a skyline wants a turbo skyline!

Some bloke pulled 150KW with just zorst and cams! Think of the possibilities! You could blow off 20DET's like nothing!

200KW is possible.. and 200 NA KW shits all over a 200KW turbo engine.. The amount of fun it would be! Rb25DE CVT head on a 10:1.. maby even 10.5:1 or 11:1 (thats REALLY pushing it) RB30 block is such a unique skyline!

Can you bore 30 blocks out to something larger?

Its what my plans are some time in a year or so..

hahaha... far from a sheep!

i know the motor you are talking about; skit_r31's motor, which was originally don's used in salt lake high speed runs.

the problem i am facing is this; that if i build it - it will be done first time and done first time right. that means, custom hypeuretic (sp?) pistons/forged pistons, forged rods, rb26 head, ported and polished, oversized valves, strengthed valve springs, individual throttle bodies, i would most definitely be looking at 11:1 compression at least and would even try going to 11.5 or even 12:1. some big lumpy cams, and the whole she-bang with a microtech or d-jetro pfc, etc etc. and a redline of something insane 10k rpm??? who knows.

no idea what kinda power i'd be looking at, 200-250rwkw? a motor which will sound pure sex, and a car which i can't even drive to the shops. i would love to do it, maybe when i get time and money. there's also not very much point in putting it into a skyline as the biggest disadvantage would be the weight factor. a 240/260z would be ideal... old school with a bit of new school.

as to boring it out, you can a little... some guys are running an RB31 with oversized pistons.

in the mean time i have another plan which will yield some crazy NA power.

as to blowing away RB20DETs, here's me mixing it up with some RB25DETs... even beat a GTR time! who says you need a turbo (or two) to go fast!

and before all them come in here whinging about turbo beats all, let me just make it clear that there's more to going fast than just outright power; skill and suspension setup contribute as well, and i have proven that! all these narrow minded dyno queens are doing is making up for lack of driver skill.

Dang ... ;) ...

BTW.. I am all with you in saying that there is more to a car than just out right power.. In terms of power deliverly, an NA engine is so much more attractive.. And there is no point in building a car as the americans do - 36.7 Squillion Litre V8 that has absolutely hopeless at cornering and you are most likely going to die of body roll. Carners are the best bit in driving! =]

Sounds like you got the whole thing planned.. And its definately not a bad way to spend 10K!

.. you live life once.. you cant take money to the grave.. I say go for it.. (mind you itsvery easy for me to say it)

In terms of weight.. thats no probs!.. Strip everything off it!.. Bonnet, Interior, Boot, ABS, Hicas, Doors, Air con, Front quarter pannels etc. etc. etc.

But im just flapping my gums.. its your call.. you know how great it would be.. =]

And its definately not a bad way to spend 10K!

i estimate closer to 15K+ up and running. there would definitely be loads of R&D and dyno time to incorporate for us plebs that cant do things on the free/cheap

there's just so many combos i'd like to try and do...

R32/240Z/260Z with RB30DE high comp (track/motorkhana)

stripped out and caged R32 GTS4 with RB25DET from a stagea + manual conversion (track weapon)

R33 non turbo motor (all rounder, track, street, drag) *something which i'd like to get started on by next year*

and that's just the play toys... my brother just bought a subaru, and i'm in love with how easy it is to drive fast in the corners with them. am definitely keen to see how an evo handles. they are so cheap, reliable and easy to go fast in compared to a gtr/skyline.

with most things balancing priorities, costs and reliabilities is a big factor - and the skyline is simply not up high in the list, they are getting on in the years and things are getting worn and need to be replaced. there are alot of purists, but only the wise know when it's time to move on to bigger and better things. shall see in due time i suppose... in the mean time like you said, if you can do it and want to do it, then go for it!

stripped out and caged R32 GTS4 with RB25DET from a stagea + manual conversion (track weapon)

I can vouch for that! Dad ticked up a R32 GTST with a 25DET t3/t4 ~250KW.. :w00t: MY GOD!

The extra 200KG make the GTS4 too heavy.. a well set up RWD will be just as quick and lighter.. Id like to see one in a rally.. somone to stop the EVO boys from taking all the titles..

Cant say I have ever been a fan of the subies.. their just too over rted for me.. suppose skylines are too.. but thats for good reason..

But.. I wish you all the best in your endevours.. and.. if theres anything you need a hand with.. give us a yell

Gee sounds like some serious builds going on here and for so mant dfferent application, wish i could become a grease monkey ontop of my psych degree but would never find the time! lol, i just doing the simpe turbo conversion which everyone has done before but my R33 RB25DE will most likely be upfor sale...

Anyways g2g sort this out with the garage now so wish me luck!

Will keep postd, regards hamish

  • 2 weeks later...

yeaha, she is definatly a head turner and she goes into the workshop this monday for the engine conversion so i'll keep you all posted on how it goes, if anyof you have had the rb25det conversion on your gts skyline could you please post the price you paid including parts and mechanic labour and what you had done exactly, eg if you needed a new exaust system etc, just to see if what i am having done is a good price!

Hame :fakenopic:

A Bit of Mag polish as i thought the compound would work as they both chrome metal and well yeaha they came up ok, some darker marks are always going to be there but they do looks good. Car still hasn't even entred the garage i a little dissappointed as it been a month now but hey you can't rush these things.
