And who revs a new donk to 5500 any way...when mine was new it didnt go past 3000 and 0 psi.....i have stock dump....no over boost problem for me

He didnt go past 3000 until he done 2000km then he started to have give it up to 5500 every now and then...

I dunno why some of you guys are replying as though i said "ONLY because of his dump, he blown his motor, while constantly reving it to 5500 from day 1"...

I dont see the need to be so arrogant guys...

Make sure 100000% it is...coz my friend's joins almost instantly (shit custom job) and now he has a brand new engine...cooked. (couldnt lower boost in the run in period). Otherwise, if done properly, i personally think they are the way to go.

Who said i/he was entirely blaming the dump pipe ? I just said it played a part in stuffing up boost levels and as well as his injectors weren't too good causing, like you said, the motor to lean out and go bang.

And no he wasnt giving it too much, it was still in the run in period (obviously gave it a bit sometimes, but not constantly).

So its pretty much what you said, too much boost, shit injectors....How is that the most stupid comment ever made on SAU ?

I think this has all come about because of a detail that has been left out, which is his injectors were shot.

Because this was left out, your first and second post brought across the impression and implied that his motor died because of over boosting caused by a dodgy dump pipe. Which in fact was caused by a combination of bad injectors and possibly over boosting and whatever other variables.

As you said, you probably should of mentioned that his injectors weren't good in your initial post. Detail is the key.

Let's not let this turn into a pointless argument.

i'm not sure which extremely small dump pipes you're talking about. but they wont be smaller than the stock one.

these are the two types i was comparing

there are benefits to be had with the longer split dump/front pipe over a shorter split dump + front, but they also cost more.

so what KW difference would you see? well from my research, ive found that on a mild sub-200rwkw rb25, you will prob see between 5-10 rkwk gain.

any other opinions? please throw them in the mix

I've the x-force bell mouth dump/front pipe. Seems to be pretty good. I don't know whether you'd actually feel a difference going from bell mouth to split dump at the power levels your at.

back to back dyno testing we made more power (few kw's) with a bellmouth than a good quality split dump.

go figure.

(btw power levels around the 230rwkw mark)

Bell mouths can't be bad then hey? The way I see it is as long as you can get the gases away quick enough, usually via a bigger pipe, the better.

I have a jjr split front dump on my s2, 33, fit pretty much perfectly. I don't know what other peoples experiences were but im no mechanic or fitter and turner and I had no issues with plumbing in their split front an dump in one piece, it actually looks just like that picture you have posted.. basically exactly the same. I was impressed. My only issues were getting the bolts off the back of the little turbo. putting it on took all of 30 seconds thought but wasnt exactly brain surgery. once on I can tell you I noticed a few changes in the drive-ability of my car with the stock turbo. this should be in mind that I also fitted my high flow cat at the same time and already had a fairly good cat back on the car for a week which will make a large difference if you have not got these.

essentially spool could be acheaved just over 1k rpm... remember s2 turbo. its more like 1200-1500 which beats the 2k spool I used to have (max pressure is achieved by 2k now). The cars response felt slightly better also but the spool time was the biggest factor. it isn't imposible to stay of positive pressure but it "feels" like a little throttle just of idle (depending on car temp and ambient temp 600rpm-1k rpm) and shes basically positive pressure. There is still some noticeable lag but bare in mind I also have an FMIC and didnt have any management modifications at that time.

I for one will not be going much over 250rwkw but power achieved is not the only better aspect of this mod. I have not driven a car similar to my own with a separate larger than stock font/dump pipe so cannot comment on this. Only the differences noticed with my own senses with no measurements with any tools what so ever (disclaimer) between the stock and jjr items.

P.S. searching this topic will find great wealths of nfo.. cant believe no one mentioned this before. >:)
