Thats going way to far though.

There is a point where breaking the law and not, and then being watched big brother style 24-7 is going beyond that point.

Especially with 880mil in revenue this year from speed cameras, i could think of a dozen things that require some funding but wont ever see it

agreed!

its to stop dickheads from driving when people step out off the tram

i see it daily, and im surprised more people havnt been hit before

i think its a good move

ok fair enough about the people getting off thing. but why put a cam at the front to get motorists in front of trams/nowhere near the doors?

just another revenue thing, no brainer really...

youre missing the point.

its to stop people from getting seriously injured or killed.

and how hard is it to stop when you see a tram slowing down?

ive seen people come flying thru just as the doors open, and to come only within seconds of seriously hurting, or possibly killing them

oh well, the cabbies are gonna cop it

HaHa...so true!

Seriously though,

....I think they are using a band-aid or reactive solution to the problem rather than taking a pro-active approach. You can even apply this to speeding, road tolls, etc, -more Police presence on the roads is required as it has a pro-active approach. The use of cameras is favorable only because after its initial installation cost the upkeep is significantly cheaper compared to a few hundred extra Police officers wages every year.

As someone who catches a tram every day to and from work all i can say is this is such a good idea.

So many idiots zoom past the trams when they are meant to give way, I'd say that I see one every day at least. In the last two months the tram i have been in has been hit by people trying to do u-turns or trying to duck in front of the tram to turn right.

If people break the rules they should be fined right in the arse. Its not hard to drive properly.

Hehe last time I checked, suggesting people should get run over is a pretty stupid thing to say. If it was in jest, why get so upset when someone jests back? Your assumption of grungy (grundgy?) social outcosts, foolishness and handicaps is amazingly childish and terribly cliched for someone considering themselves a comedian.

Lighten up spunky trunks :D.

Lighten up spunky trunks  .

This is no battle of wits between you and me. I never pick on somebody who is unarmed, but hell, I'll make an exception for this time only. This is soooooo funny, just because of the fact you tried to correct my spelling of "grungy" when it was actually spelt in the correct manner/form and according to thefreedictionary.com, your misspelt "grundy" doesn't even exist in the listings CLICK HERE...

Now you got me all curious with that "outcosts" term you have used above... Are we talking accounting here? All this sounds Greek to me, it doesn't know whether to scratch its watch or wind its ass. :D

I'm always smiling babe.. don't worry about me. :(

:)

    • Personal experience. Those f**kers burn. And are actually a PITA to put out. Next time I walk down the back, I'll snap a photo of what the inside of the bonnet looks like when that thing ignites. PS, powder fire extinguishers are useless on that stuff too as it's fibrous and when it ignites, it starts to pull apart. And you end up just blowing powder through a sieve effectively.   Like the big thing is, if it's fire resistant, it's job is to stop what burning? The METAL above it? It's just to try keep heat off the bonnet paint work.
    • Oh man, sorry, $60.00000000... 😛
    • That's more or less what he meant. What it really means is that you do not have to go full crazy on the build. Don't need the best oil pump, expensive rods & pistons, big cams, etc. You can upgrade whatever you want instead of using stock level items, but you don't have to. Having said that - any time an RB is opened up, if anything is getting replaced, I think the opportunity should be taken to do all the sensible upgrades. Pistons, rods, pump, etc.
    • February update 🙂 We managed to get the very last 1/18th "Extra Scale" cars stock available from bookstores in Kyoto. These are actually the last ones and will not be restocked again! Hachette Collections Japan have not decided on a release date for these or other models in the series, so for the time being these are all there are available new.  These are showing up on Yahoo auctions at inflated prices already (especially the Celica and NSX) so get yours now at a very reasonable price before they disappear!
