headlight not working

my left headlight has suddenly stopped working. High beam still works on the left side but not the normal beam.

Any suggestions? Does this sound like a fuse or a globe?

...must be the power from the new exhaust (hahahhhhh)

I had the same problem a few weeks ago where my right side headlight wasn't working. I traced the problem back to the switch at the base of the column you use to turn the headlights on and off. There are no fuses for the headlights.

I suggest you take the cover off from around the steering column, unscrew the unit that the indicator/headligh column goes into and probe around with a multimeter.

yeah that is the first step...I assumed he'd already checked the globe.

my left one blew last year, just the bulb so I'm assuming it's just the right bulb this time too.

Sounds like the globe to me, easy fixed for a few $.

Yep. Its the globe. Can these be bought anywhere like Marlows etc for the skyline? If not, where?

Sure can, take the bulb in, they'll have them there:D Marlows, Auto-1, Repco etc.

only problem being that I coudlnt get the 80watt globe anywhere. Had to replace both globes with the aus standard of 55watt.

Stick with 55W, then the cops will have one less thing to hassle you about:D You can get super-bright globes (150W) from some of the Accessory stores:D

150W globes are all good and well, but they burn the inside of the lenses.

I got nice ones from coventrys. they're white so I can see at night.

If you want cheap Ice blue headlights (with the white light) go to Lance Electrics - on the corner albany Hwy and that side street across from the Greyhounds complex (on the same side). Its owned by a speedway guy.... he has really good prices- and you won't be paying "boutique rice car shop" prices!

They can look blueish, but on a white bit of paper they have to shine white light.
