OK here is the story.

I will not name any names but as some of you read on you will probably figure out where i ordered the cams.

I registered to a website. This website sells aftermarket performance parts.I enter my vehicle details as follows:

97 R33 RB25DET skyline series 2.

When browsing through this website if there is a part you want you scroll down to find if there is a part available for your car,and if there is it it highlighted in pink.

In this instance i was looking for Tomei Poncams. And lucky for me they had the part for my car.

ECR33 series 2 was highlighted in pink. Now knowing that there was a cam angle sensor change in the series 2 model from 97,9 onwards i provided my car build date to this website which is FEB 97.I placed the order and waited for my cams to arrive.

5 weeks later they arrive and to my horror they sent the wrong part. They sent the 97,9 onwards cams.

I sent the site an email saying that they sent the wrong part.I need the cams before 97,9.

They tell me they sent the right part which is for a series 2.Technically they are correct but i provided the build date of my car so this mix up wouldnt happen.

They then tell me to go to the Tomei website and tell them what part number i require for the cams to suit my car, which is 143020.But on their website they have this in the series 1 r33.

I tell them my car is a series 2 not a series 1 so why would i order the part for a series 1 when my car is a series 2.And the correct part was highlighted in pink on your site to match my car.

So i ask for your advise on this matter.

I dont think you can get too upset. You ordered aftermarket parts for your car from OS rather then using someone like Hi Octane. I dont think you can r5eally blame " i know who you are talking about" for the mistake. At the end of the day, speak to the the Tomei distributer locally and see if they will swap them for cams they have on stock. (even if they charge a few dollars extra....)

Thats a risk when buyign OS, and not usign local supply chain. Forgetting that, its what you sometimes get when you buy anything for your car :domokun:

The exhaust cam is the issue , the only difference is the CAS pickup. The series 1 & 2 cam specs are identical appart from this.

Not meaning to be hard on you but,

the internet shops are great if you know what you want, they aren't there to provide advice or guidance (you can't pick up a phone, even if you could there isn't an experienced mechanic on the other end). If you are purchasing a more technical upgrade component you ought to do your research and ask for the right part number. If thats beyond you then buy it locally and get the service you really need.

As they say 'Buy cheap , buy twice'.

You have some options;

* sell both and buy the right set.

* sell just the exhaust cam and buy another one.

* sell your cas and buy a series 2 unit.

Not so bad really.

It's probably easier to swap the CAS to suit the drive if you can get hold of one at a decent price. Most of the importers here would probably not be interested in swapping a cam that someone overseas sold to you. Sometimes it may cost a tad more to buy parts here but along with the bit extra you spend you also get support from the sellers. Tuneagent and Hi Octane sell the Poncams for a good price and usually have them in stock.

I tried Hi Octane they were gracious enough to hear my story and were going to swap them but then realised the didnt sell many of the cams that i had so they said no.I guess ill be swapping the CAS.

Is it as easy as a straight swap?

Will it affect anything else on the motor if i do this?

Will signals get affected?

Where could i purchase one from?

Thanks for all your input much appreciated.
