Mid_Nite_R33
hey guys, Today i have installed my new Car dvd player, everything works, it turns on and played a CD, but there is no sound coming from any of the speakers, i have checked all speaker wiring, played with sound setting on the unit and still no good. There is a "mute" wire coming from the headunit loom that im not sure what to do with, right now i have left it hanging unconnected, any ideas?? thanks! RANDY
So it's straight speaker terminals on the back? If so, and you've connected some kind of speaker directly to it to test, then (this is a wild guess) perhaps there is some kind of output selection you can do on the unit? Maybe you can switch between RCA outputs (for an amp) or direct speaker hookup (which you are running now) Lastly, if that all checks out, get a multimeter with a continuity test function, and check that each end of the speaker wire goes to the correct place. Unplug one speaker, hold probe to negative wire, then touch other probe to the negative(ground) speaker wire that ran into the back of the player (i.e the same piece of wire). etc etc. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/175245-problem-with-installing-car-dvd-player/#findComment-3211624 Share on other sites

Today i will try hooking it up with minimal wires, no amp, just power , accessory ground and 2 speakers.... DRD-00F
dvd players are fun to figure out i remember i had a similar problem with mine, took me ages to figure it out... these units have a lot more packed into them, so you have to know what your doing... it was eventually a problem with the DVD player and an output selection... what kind of player do you have? vidospace
Cant agree more. Stick with a known brand. The Ebay ones are terrible. I have had nothing but problems with them. JVC make decent ones that are very cheap now days. I picked up a DVD headunit (without screen) for $350 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/175245-problem-with-installing-car-dvd-player/#findComment-3229053 Share on other sites
