this morning when i woke up i found that i have been left a note on my car.

Please park somewhere else your car is to loud.

now im thinking to myself. i got home at 2-3am soo 1. who got up out of bed to write a note and stick it on my car so late 2. the car is running pretty stock and isnt that loud 3. i bet it was the crazy bat that lives above me.

so this morning i got up and started my car up. while warming it up a mate from across the road came out and we started chatting. then the crazy old bat comes out yellin and screaming speaking in tounges. i clamly ask what i am doing wrong and she continues to yell scream and kick shit at my car. next thing i kno cops rock up and im gettin the car searched. they find nothin wrong with the car and no drugs as they clearly stated they where lookin for mod's and drugs... no idea why :) any way they tell me that i cant park my car infront of my unit block any more and before i can ask why or anything they pack up and drive away. now is this leagl ? can they do that ?

i felt like throwning the bitch under the car and dropin it.

theres a saying

'If its too loud, you're too old' LOL in this case its the old bat's problem really....

how long you been in that unit for? has this just happened b4 or just recently?

but yeh u live in that unit & paying for it, i guess you have every right to park there.

wtf... if your cars stock tell em go GAGF

Its you spot, you can park what you want there. If she keeps calling the cops eventually they'll get sick of hearing about it and not rock up anymore... similar thing happened to me, so you wont have any problems

Maybe try and have a civil chat to her and explain that your car is legal, and if she keeps calling the cops than they will eventually learn to ignore calls from ur address and then when she needs them to help her she will be in the poo.

Play on her old lady insecurities - she is bound to see sense even if she won't admit it to you.

Will she damage your car? i would get a security camera and vcr set up so you can catch her if she does anything. I would go nuts if i have to pay for damage some old bitch caused! See if you get a camera and she knows its there you can take off your zorst and sit there revving on and off for a day or too lol

similar happened to a group of us in brisbane, my mates house has about 6 cars, 4 of which are R31s and theres about 5 other r31s that wisit on a weekly basis. we are always in the front driveway working on them and the old c**t acriss the street always yells out to us and abuses us, he called my mate a black c**t for example. they continuially call the cops, they would come round and have a look but never did anything. then they wrote a petition up and got 12 signatures, and wrote down all of the cars numberplates, including a EA falcon that sits out the front and never gets driven (apparently it was the worst for hooning). its also worth mentioning that none of us are retarded enough to drop skids in front of the house.

peopel who have nothing better to do than sit and watch us, eavesdrop, take photos of our cars, call the cops, and yell at us and abuse us from the security of their meshed in front patio. and when we do say somethign back they dont like it at all.

sigh im just sick of uneducated f**k wits that have no clue about what colour underwear there wearing telling me how i should be acting and what is leagl and what not.. makes me feel like burning this motherf**ker down, HEY POOOOKIE LETS BURN THUIS MOTHERFKER DOWN!!!

Situations with neighbours are the most annoying to deal with I find. You can't just tell them to F off because it's probably going to escalate the issue. Do you own the apartment? Are you renting? Does she own her apartment?

I recently had an issue with my neighbour who tried to tell me that my dog was responsible for pissing on her plants. I know how ridiculous this problem is to everyone but to her it's a big deal.

Your neighbour seems the same, doesn't have a lot to do with herself so she's nosy and causing problems for other people.

I would try and discuss it with her in a calm and adult way and try and make her see how her behaviour is juvenile. Tell her that unfortunately you need to park your car there and it is completely within your rights to do so. Try to tell her that as a compromise you will drive very slowly into the car park or whatever to minimise noise. This shows that you are at least able to discuss the issue in an adult way instead of babbling and flailing like she currently is.

If she continues to call the police then it is time to tell her in a frank way that this is likely to be considered harassment and that the police are more likely to charge her than you in the long run.

Consider speaking to the strata management company or an attorney who deals with strata issues. I can give you the name of a good one on the north shore if you like. Advice from an solicitor is likely to be worth a million forum replies.

you say you were warming up your car outside?

Do you let your car idle for x amount of minutes when you start or arrive home?

A minute of idling to you may sound nothing but to someone woken up at 2am it seems longer/louder than that.

Have a chat to her and possibly change your warmiing up/down methods.

Best way to warm up car is to drive it below 3000rpm not let it sit for 1-2 minutes idling. 30seconds is all thats needed and you can start driving.

Same applies for warming down, if you take it easy 5mins before you arrive home there is no need for turbo timer/letting it idle for x amount of minutes.

Idling doesnt warm up/down gearbox, diff etc so its pointless.

If you dont idle the car in the morning/when you return disregard all the above ive said.

Sure you can say GAGF etc but she can always report you to EPA regardless if your car is legal or not..

I have same problem with neighbour so I try and keep car quiet as possible when i arrive/leave home :D

More to the point. You got home at 3am, and you're awake and on the forum at 8:15am!!!!!!!!!!

...so this morning i got up and started my car up. while warming it up...

I don't think they are talking about the air con :D haha

    • Hi all. I am aware there is lots of discussions about jacking points, where to lift the car and what not. But as usual just a lot of "in my opinion" and nothing definitive, and everyone does it in a different way. I want to hear from some experienced people on which points on the car it's okay/safe/recommended to lift the car using a four point hoist/lift. I will attach some images of my underbody. Sills are largely okayish, the driver side jacking point is pretty mangled though and it looks like the underfloor is slightly pushed in too, but I might be wrong. In the German Skyline forum, the consensus is to use the sidemember chassis rails in the front and the rear subframe? bushing in the rear. I know the manual says to never use the sidemember for loading but lots of folk do it and it was definitely done on my car too as they are slightly bent too. Based on the images, what points do I use to not make the already present damage worse? I'd use wood or rubber blocks to spread the load across a bigger area of course. Driver side sidemember and jacking point mangled one) https://imgur.com/a/eKjzrJX Driver side rear jacking point https://imgur.com/a/W3DWF1P Passenger side sidemember and jacking point https://imgur.com/a/65UvIJe Passenger side rear jacking point https://imgur.com/a/h3k7j53 We can also see some underbody rust but so far it all looks somewhat treatable and nothing that requires a Yoshida style restoration.
    • Have you put an aftermarket oil pressure gauge on and verified your oil pressure?   Noise being on the block, on exhaust side, how high up the block does it seem to be? It could be the VCT system getting cranky, especially if it's mainly at idle, and when warm, as that'll be your lowest point for oil pressure. Could be showing that oil passages / VCT solenoid are blocking.
    • Well, hydraulic lifters will get noisy if they are dirty/fouled in some way, and exactly how that manifests will depend on exactly what schmutz is where. There is a procedure on here somewhere for dismantling and soaking/cleaning them. Replacing them with new is about 50% of the work and about 5% of the money!
    • Thanks for the reply @GTSBoy this is is a hydraulic lifter engine. Yea right i did not realise the lifters were supposed to be compressible while installed. I could push them down but i had to lean almost my while body weight on them.  I have never heard of a lifter/ lifters ticking only at hot idle and getting worse the hotter it gets. I have owned a few jdm cars with noisy lifters. This noise is slightly more subtle, it is more of a sharp gentle metalic tic than the solid and more loud tapping I've heard on lifters. I have used a metal rod, alloy tube, hose and stethoscope and could not find the source of the tick. But it appears to be loudest on the actual engine block behind the exhaust cam gear and next to the oil filter. I had mate (40 year old mechanic) go over it with me and he couldn't find it either..  Could it be a cam seal issue of some sort?  Cheers
