Ok, so we're talking about Neons - are we not? OK, if that's the case, I'll have to intervene... Neons are gay big time - RICE - all show bull shit... however, if you have neons inside the car just to light up under the dash then that's creative in some ways (personally don't like them at all) - however, under the car is a no no IMO... you can't turn them on whilst driving or the cops will dick you big time as they're illegal for street use - and just to light them up whilst stationary at Macca's for example is a waste of cash... 1 more thing - put them too ligh and they will be exposed which is gay big time and going over humps they may even break... don't know about you guys, but for me - undercar neons are just a no no...!

well heroes i have got neons on my skyline and i like them and so do a lot of other people because i allways get remarks on how good it looks. just because some people dont like them because they think that they are gay means nothing to me. like other people say its your car so do what you like stuff what other people think.

Mate,

Fair enough - question though; would you drive with them on? :nyaanyaa:

Did you goto school mate? You seem to struggle using a keyboard for some reason.

Neons are

1. pretty gay

2. A final ( final cosmetic mod) that you CAN do to add 5 stars of wank to your machine. I'm pretty sure i'd only add some if I did have some crazy yellow, pink or green paint job.. but your call.

^^^ ahahahahahhahah

what about if you put it on top? blue and red ones? they look nice together, i'm sure the cops will appreciate the color, it's like "police represent"....

^^^ Biggest LOL ever!!! Sound like Ali G

IMO - neons is not worth it - but each to their own. If you are putting them for under the car lighting, be prepared to have them stolen. Thats why its best to go for cheap ones if possible. Isnt driving with neons on illegal too?

the only thing i dislike about under car neons is the light spread...it would be good if they could shoot all the way across the front and all the way down the side.

Are the multicolour ones on eBay any good (LED)? What parts a good neon from a shit one? same electrics; LED aren't common to blowing.

And about the neons being gay...waste of money? Can't use them while driving; Why put all this money into making the engine faster and making the exhaust louder, cuz at the end of the day your only aloud to do the speed limit and only aloud to have a car so loud. 4 Gees on doing an engine up to do 110 max on the street or 300 bucks to turn heads, i know which way I'd go.

But yeah you can take the car to a strip and flog the guts out of your car, it's legal, well I'm sure you can turn your lights on down the strip.

i was told it is legal to have them on while driving but your not allowed to see the actual neon tube. Also i was told cops will more likely have a go at you if you have red or blue at the front of the car (because of the emergency lights) and it can confuse other people, but other colours are fine from what i hear

I think your not allowd to have emergency colours

Blue - Police

Red - Police, fire, ambo

White - Ambos, Fire

Purple - Department of Transport

But if you wanted to could use underbodys as normal lights; Red at the back when u brake, flashing amber on side for indicator, and white at the front

something tells me that you would not be allowed to use the regular colours as under body neons...

and as for driving with neons on, that is ONLY interiors, and only if the bulb can not be seen from outside the car... providing it hasn't been changed lately...

Agree 100% too...

Motor wise my car is totally stock, and dad has trouble keeping up with me in his work car... ...BTW... ...Dad's work car has lots of pretty blue and white stickers and lots of flashing lights... ...and most people will stop for him when he puts in behind them...

I have got a couple of those 30cm slimline Cold Cathode tubes off ebay in the "computer section". They are easy to wire up and give off good light. By the way i only got them to light up the area where ur feet go to help ya see where ya feet go at night when ya open the doors.

This is all I was thinking of doing. Just the black lights.. nothing stupid, just enough light to light the foot wells up. Cant see anything wrong with doing that.

    • Any number of different ways. Have the coils draw sufficient current to provide contact wetting. Use different contacts in the switch, either by material or design, better suited to the low current drawn by a relay coil. Etc.
    • Hmm, how does the R34 manage to have headlight relays then without getting excessive carbon buildup on the headlight switch contacts?
    • Not R7R. Meant to type R&R, obviously enough.
    • Bugger "making it look stock". I put one conventional internally fused Hella relay behind each globe. I just pulled the plugs off the back of the globes and built new loom segments with male and female plug parts to match up to the original loom and the globe, and used the original power wires to each globe coming from the switch through the original loom plug to trigger the relays. Ran a big fat (also separately fused) power wire across the front of the car to feed all the relays. It's as ugly as f**k, but it is wedged down between the headlight and battery on the RHS and the airbox and headlight on the LHS, and no-one ever looks in my engine bay, and on the odd occasion that they do I simply give no f**ks for what they think. Fully reversible - not that you'd ever want to. For f**k's sake. It's a Skyline. They made million of the bloody things. We've been crashing them into roadside furniture for 30 years now. There is a negative side effect to putting relays on the headlights. The coil current is too little to properly clean the contacts in the switches and they get blacked up and you have to open them up every couple of years and clean them manually. I have 25 years of experience on this point.
    • I was poking through the R34 wiring diagrams vs R33 and noticed that the R34 has proper headlight relays while the R33 is like the R32 and sends full headlight power through the headlight switch. I'm not afraid of wiring but I really would like to do this in a way that looks OEM (clipping into open positions on the OEM relay box) and also unlike the factory wiring which interlocks the high beam and low beam on the halogen series 1 GTR headlights I want to make it such that turning on the high beams keeps the low beams on as well. Any advice on how to locate the specific connectors + crimp terminals + relays I need? I was thinking one NO relay for low beams and another for combined high + low running off the factory high beam headlight connector. I don't really want to splice into a crusty old probably discontinued factory harness so fully reversible is my goal here.
