hi guys, well, as per topic, i lost my motorbike keys. its a kawasaki gpx250 - yes im on my L's.

anyone know what would be the cheapest way to get my motorcycle running again! thanks

Pull your ignition out and bring it to a locksmith. Does it also have helmet lock on it as well? did it work off the same key?

Lol

I did the same on my old ZZR250!!!

There is a number on the face of the lock barrel, I think that it is a leter and four numbers.

I took the barrel out and took it in, to find out that this number is a key ID.....

Take the number to a good locksmith and see how you go before pulling it a part.

Try that, You might need proof of owner ship but.....

:(

thanks for the quick replies guys!

4admrn : I rang around and they are trying to charge me around $300!

KeyMaker: It has a helmet lock and a seat lock, all use the same key, any tips on pulling the ignition barrel out? Im a bit nervous, and dont want to screw anything up

seeyagtr: i looked for a number, all i could see was 238-M69 could this be the right number? or do i have to pull out the ignition barrel to find the number? also how much did it cost you to get another one?

thanks heaps guys, i really appreciate your help! i'm getting pissed of with catching the train to the city with all the other plebs every morning

No that number you have isn't the one. You should be able to find it stamped on the side of the ignition housing, which involves taking the whole ignition housing and electrical switch off the bike, the electrical switch should be attached to it.

You may find the number on the side of the helmet lock body....maybe, maybe not. Taking the ignition assembly out should just be a matter of screws and bolts and taking off whatever shrouds you have to.

Find whatever numbers you can and pm them to me, I'll tell you if its the right one.

It should cost $30-$50 at the most to get a couple of keys cut from the number, thats if you go to them.
