Buying BOV's

I had a few probs with mine, but after an ECU reset, and a good tightening of the valve. it was fine

tightening of the valve can lead to compressor surge, which is bad new for your turbo especially series 1 R33 with their ceramic turbos!!! I reckon you should get a atm BOV.

I had an atm BOV and the car stalled, now I have a plumb back and it still stalls.

sorry that is meant to read a plumb back BOV, i reckon you shjould get a plumb back BOV or stick with the stock one...

excuse my ignorance, do you guys mean by installing a BOV will stall the car ? Could anyone please explain further in this regards ?

when BOV vents the air left in the intercooler piping to atmosphere it is removing air from the system.

however this air has already gone past the AFM and hence a signal has been sent to pulse the injectors. with no air, but more fuel the result is the car stalling

look i have an atmo venting BOV..no dramas what so ever, stalled the first 2-3 times but then it just adapted i guess?

i didnt have an S-AFC then, but i do have one now but yeah a few mechanics have said to put in an S-AFC but my stalling problem went away

Whats wrong with the factory one? And why do you want to blow ~$300 on a new one?

When you drive by and "whoosh" at me, I won't be thinking that sound makes the car any cooler. I'll be thinking, "Why on earth did that ass clown blow ~$300 on an externally venting BOV for a AFM metered car when you just *know* its going to cause problems".

But shit, get one if you want. In fact, why bother buying a turbo car when you can buy this now.

I look at it a little more holistically than grandeko.

If you bought a car to be "practical", you'd probably buy an excel, or maybe a micra.

If you buy a jap sportscar, you probably bought it to enjoy it. for some, that means putting micky-T's on and aiming for 9s. for some, circuit racing at the plex. others still will choose to go down a different route and buy 19 inch rims.

19 inch rims generally make the car drive worse, slower and cost a fortune to buy and insure. But no one ever really gives a shit...

I reckon if a bov makes you enjoy the experience more, and contrbutes to the fun you have because you get to scare old ladies in the tunnel, go a bov.

If not, then eh!?

had a custom Bov on but it didnt work out...

Now i have a blocking plate where the bov used to be.....

i havent had any stalling probs except when cold with my powerup t2 bov. the fluttering on my car with no bov is louder than the noise the bov makes, so is it more rice for me to take it of or leave it on?? lol

I have a HKS atmo venting BOV and I have never had any stalling probs either. Dont have any S-AFC etc either. Fun some people have trouble some dont, gotta just be lucky I guess ;-)

it just comes down to good ajustment sometimes
