I bought the car last Friday from a "car dealer"

if they will not give you a massive discount insist they refund you and if they don't call consumer affairs.

The dealer offered me to get the odometer replaced for free.

Contacted ACT fair trading, recommended Premier Instruments, but the guy there told me to talk to the dealer again.

Anyone know who else can inspect whether odometer has been tempered with?

Should try pin em for faulse shit... like, if they had wound it back, then you might not of bought it at the K's it was origonally..

yeh it may not neccesarily have been the dealer that tampered with it (if it has been) and even if they did youd be VERY hard pressed to prove it.

you can't nail them down unless you prove it with a written report... which will cost me a lot of money also - simpler if I just get it fixed.

I remember, what happened to Sheppard Ford - that car dealer had to shut down because when they sold a used car, the buyer accidently met the previous owner of that car. The original owner saw the odometer and it was less than what he had before....

anyway, the odometer was probably wound back in Japan before shipping, its pretty much the case with all Jap imports unless there are supporting log books. I'd take it back anyway and ask whats going on, demand a discount or that they refund your money, your planning on selling anyway so why not
