I was going to look at a 33 tonight until i realised how far a drive it was lol... The guys doesnt seem to want to meet me any place closer either 2nite or a different day so I dont think that is going ahead. Either he thinks I'm not interested or he has got a better deal somewhere. Dont know. I guess i'll keep on the lookout for either, R31 Nismoid if the 33's feel heavier than the 31, thats not much chop at all lol... My coupe feels very heavy under brakes and thats just day to day driving.

Why twin cam? sohc rb30 standard internals + responsive turbo = good power, just not as smooth or tune-able. Trying to find a good a rb30 vl is a task, but you occasionally find one that an old man has taken care of since new for a couple grand + if buy a whole car it makes the conversion easier.

If you buy a 33 you'll constantly get shit for how common they are... but saying that I'd never swap to r31.

I drive an import 31 and putting a single cam Rb30 in it would be worse for than ppl bagging me out for having a 33 lol... I do like the 33's but never really driven one enough to get used to it. I would prefer an Rb25 powered skyline than an RB30E+T. I'm not a VL fan even tho i know thatt he 30E+T gets great power and fantastic track times. I dont want one.

When you did the comp tests were they just generally low numbers or was there lots of variance? Because if its been sitting for ages its quite likely it will be down.

nah there was variations... The NEO engine was 100 100 60 52 57 97

The S1 RB25 33 version was 100 100 100 100 50 100 all r round numbers, dont really remember the exact numbers.

A workshop did the comp test properly not just me doing it myself.

I am currently going through the same dilemma with my 32.. I love my car but cannot justify spending more money on the RB20.. trying to decide between a 25 halfcut, a clapped out 25 and rebuilding it straight away, building a 30 or buying a built 30.. ARGH DECISIONS! Stick with your 31 dude, if you're happy with the car as a whole and it has sentimental value - keep it and give it some more power ;)

I have always said buy the best of what u can afford... not followed it all that much but other ppl appreciate the advice sometimes... If u can afford a twin cam 30 or a rebuilt 25 then do it, then u know exactly what u got and its new... I could rebuild and strengthen the 20 and know I basically have a brand new engine and know whats been put in but at the end of the day its still an RB20 and i dont really chugging up hills. if i could afford it i'd be putting a......... wait for it....... 2JZGTE in the HR31 even if it was auto, halfcut = cheap... fab and labour pushes the conversion towards 8 grand, 3 grand more than a 25 conversion. If I could afford a rebuilt 25 and 25 box at the same time i'd be doing that. Its all about how much u want to spend and i dont really wanna spend over 5 grand on a car that cost me 8000.
