SECURITY
for a straight conversion i'd hit up hills motorsports. they do good work with conversions and are pretty well priced. as for costs, i'd be looking at an r33 rb26 if you dont want dramas down the track so you may be up for around 10k for a decent motor, loom, ecu and piping as well as other custom work that may be needed to be done.... + labour. mad082
have you priced a motor yet? if you haven't then you might want to look at the first as it would be a cheaper option to build up a 25. you would get more power for your money. mad082
10k would get you over 250kw out of the rb25 rather easily. you would probably get a rebuilt rb25 to 280kw for cheaper than the cost of putting a rb26 in, and it would be more reliable as you would know exactly the condition of the motor. BHDave
For 280 id leave the 25 alone and throw bolt on's at it, and maybe cams if you felt that way inclined. swanny180
+1 for either sticking with 25 or going 30 bottom end. For the $$ youd be comfortably making 280rwKw before you have the rb26 in and running Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/175990-dropping-a-rb26-into-a-rb25/#findComment-3222031 Share on other sites
Jago
greg @ autosport engineering: 9521 1388 Done more than his fair share of 26 rwd conversions (with his own S13 and S15 etc), so he'd have a pretty damn good idea of what's involved and the costs Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/175990-dropping-a-rb26-into-a-rb25/#findComment-3222081 Share on other sites
Zas)-(
lol greg at autoport. my mate did his rx conversion there and he took them to court over it because it died on the track so im pretty hesitant to go there atm mate rb30 bottom end, now would normal mechanics be able to bolt it on or would i need to gets hills a call or another performance engineered mechanic i like the rb20 idea, except i think you need to fix oil squirters??? whats involved in that? say a cost of what 5 grand would be sweet for the rb30 conversion> Edited July 10, 2007 by Zas)-( Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/175990-dropping-a-rb26-into-a-rb25/#findComment-3222154 Share on other sites
R31Nismoid
For 280 id leave the 25 alone and throw bolt on's at it, and maybe cams if you felt that way inclined. Best post in the thread by far. No need for the RB26 for only 280rwkw. Its massive cost for not a lot of point other than "hey, i have an RB26" Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/175990-dropping-a-rb26-into-a-rb25/#findComment-3222254 Share on other sites
