Hi guys i'm importing a 90 R32 GTR through Prestige Motor Sports.

Car should arrive late this month or early next. Prestige put me onto a place in Brisbane

Import Auto Compliance P/L

2 / 14 Lapis Street

Underwood QLD 4119

Phone: (07) 3808 9099

Fax: (07) 3808 7099

David Fredricks 0412 139 506

Anyway they quoted me 2300 + GST + tyres + doors + taking off and refitting standard parts.

Comp 2300 + GST 230 + tyres 500 + doors 800 = $3800 + taking off and fitting parts well.. could be over 4k!!!

This seems like way too much to me? They want 550 for doors + 100 fitting + painting if needed?

Ill try to source the doors myself and just fit the old ones back on later on to save money. I'm also going to find my own tyres to reduce the costs.

Anyway i'm new to importing so any help to save money would be much apreciated. I'm not too handy myself but i can do some things.

Any advice?

THANKS!

Shop around if you want: http://raws.dotars.gov.au/rawswebpublic/RAWPubSearch.asp

Search for 'Nissan,' 'Skyline R32' & call around. There's 16 listed in QLD alone.

Tyres - you need new ones. Some places will allow you to buy your own, other's won't.

Doors - seems you can get aftermarket side-intrusion bars engineered now. However don't think the cost will be very different. If the workshop let you find your own doors they need to be the ones with intrusion bars in them.

Mods - sounds like you have a modified GTR. Always going to be additional costs for removing those parts as part of compliance.

$2300 + GST is about right.

as for the doors. As I understand it you CANNOT just fit late model GTR doors to satisfy this requirement. as when they complied early 32s under sevs the evidence package shows aftermarket bars that have been passed so they have to be fitted. your workshop may have a different evidence package though. the price for the bars is on the high side, but not extreme. good bars probably cost them between $100 and $200 each, and there is a fair bit of labour in fitting them.

tyres is just like razor said.

with the parts well yes they have to be removed (and replaced with standard parts) for compliance so yeah, not much you can do about that.

As per another web site so people know the answer is below,

It has to be OEM for all the parts but for the intercooler with out seeing it that is the workshops call, Turbo Timer disabled, Wing removed but the biggest cost being the doors, well their is now available approved After Market Side Intrusion Bars for the R32 GTR as I have ordered them and I have the evidence in my possession so I know it is out their, these are ADR approved and tested according to ADR 29 requirements for DOTRS.

Their is no need to fit other doors then repaint them anymore so look into this option and good to see people are told all the cost's up front........

Oh and DOTRS know of the swap doors for compliance and then put back old ones after complying the car..........
