apart from the bt it is pure audio, it dos'nt even play dvd's, if you spend $1000 on a top of line name player you expect a little extra and you expect it to work, it has never been returned because of the bt, it had other audio issues from day one with bad sound quality.

Well u never mentioned bad sound quality.

I have fitted numerous Pioneer units and the 9850BT is definitely a real good performer. As far as audio side of things goes, u get exactly what u paid for. Parametric equaliser, time alignment, Hi volt pre outs, LPF/HPF and a few other useful little features i dont remember right now.

As far as bad sound quality goes, well at the end of the day who installed the unit? Was everything soldered and insulated properly? Were all the speakers in phase?

You know there is numerous things that can go wrong, and the cost of the unit doesnt make it prone to idiots who dont know what they are doing when installing.

I installed, not exactly the first one i have ever done, use to work at an install place, everything was soldered and insulated, even the little bit of the rca connection that is exposed was insulated, once all of that was done it was plugged into the head unit (as you would know nothing is hard wired to the head unit its all on seperate looms) from the first second i turned it on i had problems.

I've installed many a head deck in my day and i have to say that i've never had so much trouble with the ebay poo. 2 of my mates have invested in these dvd head decks only both to be dissappointed. One never worked, and the other mate lasted about 2months before it crapped itself.

If 250 bucks was my budjet for a headdeck, i would go out and get an entry level pioneer single din, they fit well, everything works as it should and produce nice clear sound and you really know when you installing a decent brand headdeck when you finally clip everything in place and the headdeck just looks like it came out from factory.

I just installed a pioneer 7inch double din touchscreen in my skyline, rrp $2300, got it for $1300 on sale and i've never been happier with it. Bloody great piece of equipment

guys i changed my mind... i bought ebay one and installed.....

yes they had reason why they are so cheap...

the engine noise.... the dvd player doesnt produce enough power... not the wattage they produce.. the voltage they produce...

they made of cheap fu$kn wires or components..

i tried filters through ignition wire and everything to get rid of the noise... cant.. just cant.. because it has problem with deck

never buy cheap electrical stuff from ebay...yes it does go wrong....

~!@#$%^&

so lesson learned...?

You sure you dont have the wiring running past something it shouldnt??

hum... not sure.. i dont know how he installed but

he didnt soldered the wires.. just black taped..

RCA (blue line) is going through passengers side and power(red line) going driver side.

is it could be because not soldered and insulated?

as far as i know it doesnt really different whether soldered or taped with electrical tape(black)...isnt it?

i dont know i cant spend another 200 or 300 for insulation and soldering... may be i can do around 100 bucks if i ask him to do it..

but he will say its not going to be different..

also all wires to amp is all over the place in my boot.. its been tightend by strap but its not very tidy..

the black tape is the insulation (unless you want to use heat shrink), i think its time you learnt about wiring, go into the boot and make sure the power wires and rca wires are not on each other.

Also did he use the wire inside the rca's as a remote, if so that could be your problem, if this guy is a professional installer and he didnt bother to solder the wires i wouldnt be surprised if he did use that wire, sounds like a bit of a hack.

There are many things you could check but if you dont know your way around wiring and installs you could end up with more problems than you have now.

I am the only one who never solders their own wires? I'm in there every other week, and havving to cut and unsolder stuff would shit me pretty quickly...

I dont either, but if i was paying someone to install something i would expect them to do a better job than i do.

Tyos, just sell me your screen. If I manage to get it working (dad's an electrical engineer and has installed many audio systems), then its no loss to you, you can go buy another one.

I just can't be bothered buying off ebay myself.

actually i won the bid from ebay a little bit cheaper than buy it now price... so i wont be able to buy that in same amount of money.... anyway sorry i changed my mind few days ago...

im getting used to the noise lol

anyway... is it possible.... to let your dad have a look at mine when he is free? of course i pay him...... not asking for free...

i think you live in st leonard area right?

im in east lindfield so its just next door..

let me know mate

cheers

paul

i dont understand wire inside the rca's as a remote mean..... i kept RCA when i took the systems from previews car and i used that rca on my skyline.

and he just wire them on to my car.... not sure he remote the rca or something...

ill check the wires inside the boot anyway

thanks for your help mate!

really learns many things from forum!lol

cheers

paul

A lot of rca's have a wire up the middle that a lot of people use as the remote wire (a power wire that runs to the amp and turns the amps on when the head unit is on) this can give the noise you have.
