zertek
Hey guys, Long story short: I own a R32 GTS4 rb20det moderately to highly modified, about 2-3 months ago i damaged the engine, we think its a head gasket but havent pulled it apart yet. I have been more keen to get my RB25det in! So anyway, when i blew the engine a few months back, we rolled it and stored it at a friends place near by. Last night we were finally able to bring it home!!! so happy to see it again!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANYWAY, the rb25 hasnt been rebuilt or anything it came straight out of a staggy half cut with low K's so im keen to just throw it in. But there is one precaution i would like to take and that is replace the OEM head gasket with a metal one to help prevent blowing another one too soon. This will be done by me and a friend so just wondering what were the 'technical' aspects about this project... ive heard you have to undo the bolts in a certain sequence to prevent bending the head as it comes off? Anyone know this sequence? Any extra info would help Cheeeeers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/176583-my-baby-is-home/ Share on other sites
SECURITY
below are what you'll need to remove and install the head including torque settings from the engine manual. remove: install: Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/176583-my-baby-is-home/#findComment-3229768 Share on other sites
Adriano
You may wish to consider upgrading to head studs at the same time, roguepi on ebay has them at a good price Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/176583-my-baby-is-home/#findComment-3229984 Share on other sites
zertek
cheeers guys! ripped the RB20 out this morning! so now its time to start preping the rb25 for the drop in. I dont want to push anything over 240rwkw now as i want to keep a bit of reliability/streetability, id be more than happy with the more responsive and torquish power from the 25 after driving the 20. All the parts i have are interchangable between the engines except for: Jun front fed Plenum, custom fuel rail, and GTR injectors. Trying to figure out if i should go stock 25 plenum and pay for extra cooler piping or buy another front fed plenum to fit the 25... So now its time for my shopping list... Would love for some input. (Trying to keep to a budget and only getting what i NEED for this to work.) The RB25 shopping list: (So far...) - Head studs - 555cc nismo injectors - Metal head gasket (What size is recommended for say 14-15psi of boost.) - Gasket kit - New belts - New hoses - Oils and fluids Edited July 15, 2007 by zertek Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/176583-my-baby-is-home/#findComment-3230470 Share on other sites
swanny180
Keep stock headgasket thickness (and thus stock compression) if youre only shooting for around 240rwKw. Better response that way Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/176583-my-baby-is-home/#findComment-3230496 Share on other sites

sewid
None of the above. Replace it with a new standard headgasket. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/176583-my-baby-is-home/#findComment-3230724 Share on other sites
SilverECR33
just out of curiousity, whats the stock measurement? 1.2? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/176583-my-baby-is-home/#findComment-3230735 Share on other sites
Beer Baron
why change the headgasket at all? a standard RB25 with standard head gasket is fine for 240rwkw. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/176583-my-baby-is-home/#findComment-3230801 Share on other sites
