Building up Ur Skyline

Recommended Posts

this forum could b a good place 2 exchange ideas about modifying our skylines.

What do you plan 2 do with your skyline?

with the Akira mobile, suspension will B the first thing 2 do. I've got JIC coilovers, and a whiteline handling pack going in next week.

A NISMO 3.9 diff centre will b next. Following that the fuel delivery system ......I could go on and on, but thats all I can afford this year.

Whiteline package- You will love this mate. I got my car with one already on it and it handles like a mutherf**ker. 8) Just watch how you'll stick around corners. It'll feel like you're on rails.

How much for the coilovers?

Hey y'all.

I currently have approx 170rwkw on 12psi (i DID have 165rwkw at last dyno on 12psi and have done stuff since then.)

My next improvements which will be implemented within the next month are:

[list:7c52f7e0ba]

[*:7c52f7e0ba]New 6 Puck Clutch (mine is sceeee-roooode!)

[*:7c52f7e0ba]S-AFC

[*:7c52f7e0ba]Fuel Cut defender (which I already have, I just need to fit it - I keep bouncing off fuel cut when running 12psi).

[*:7c52f7e0ba]a cat! :) (no more flames for NOZILR!)

[*:7c52f7e0ba]cold air induction + partition.

[/list:u:7c52f7e0ba]

Then later down the track i will high flow the turbo and look at lowering the back of the car more... maybe even a kit.

I plan to hit 200rwkw this year and i'll leave her there.

Akira why a 3.9 diff why you can hit 270 kph @7000 rpm isn't that enough

how do I know I know someone who has?

my plan

well I was going to leave my car as it was till the drama's gearbox turbo etc so now I have upped my power target.

200 rwkw on stock injectors.

I doubt this is possible but JMS and that donnan bloke reckon you can.

So we will see to do that I will need a biger fuel pump. and I'm praying my afm will be ok as I sold my z32 one it should be. and an adjustabel fuel pressure regulator.

as for clutch I had heaps of options I could have got merli's race clutch but I decided on an organic heavy duty daikin. tip of the day get a price from http://www.discpads.com you have to email for a quote but they are very cheap. I have 225 rear tyres atm but I'm concidering getting 8 " wide rims and going 245 X 45 X 16 as I have found tyres this size but not for a while. I would like to run a low 13 second 1/4 mile and think I might have the package to do it.

my car doesn't need much else.

Hmmm, where do I start.....

Finish off and seal up the cold air partition that I made. PRANK let me know if you want any pics, I can send the template to you.

3 inch dump pipe and front pipe to cat.

Fix the crapy bend that a exhaust shop put in (not really important but it's bugging me).

Get a front mount on.

New FM901's on the back cause the ones I have at the moment don't do much.

Get the front spoiler fixed/repainted where I nudged a gutter !!!

Adjustable fuel reg once the front mounts on to bring down the A/F ratios.

Ummmm, that's all for now.

well tomorrow the new timing belt goes on.

Then can put the SAFC on and advance the timing some.

next will be a suspension upgrade, i'm impressed with onaruns information about his and the info on the whiteline site. then it will be a dump pipe, front mount and an AVCR and that should do me for a while.

Glad 2 know I'm not the only one with S.I.S ( Skyline Improvement Syndrome).

Whileline asked me how I want the car suspension set up, and I replied "like schumachers ferrari" Might have 2 wear a kidney belt on the next Akuna run :)

Meggala,

Thanks again for Ur advice Re; suspension and diff set up earlier. I,ve currently running a 4.3 diff ATM. My mate who imports modified cars, has 2 diffs with my name on it the nismo 3.9 and 4.1, along with enough parts 2 keep me poor for the next 3 years. Another mate told me to try the 3.9 as it should have faster hook up, greater strength and far less wheelspin and negligible disadvantage at take off due to power of engine. He worked at Diff Technics and knows his stuff. the 4.1 diff will go in if I find the other diff unsuitable.

My car does 201rkw ATM on standard fuel delivery system, with fuel starvation issues at high RPM 7000+ ( found this out at Eastern creek)

With upgraded fuel delivery system, Ur car could easily crack the 200rwkw mark. I am aiming for a max of 1.4 bar and will be happy 2 leave it at that. I think my car is tuned conservatively ATM and am happy 2 leave it that way ( dont want 2 risk damage to motor for more power)

Anyway guys, its been good 2 exchange ideas ( I've learned a lot here)

Good luck with your project skylines :)

Onarun,

I got my JIC coilovers second hand at mates rates, along with a Tomei Triangular front strut brace and the diff. The car it came out of from Japan had travelled 28K and the parts look new.

BTW the coilovers are FLT-a2 height and damper adj i think.

What set up do U have in Ur car?

    • From what I've seen and experienced first hand with those powder extinguishers, they're good to use to break a window and escape the car, and half the time then do f**k all to stop a fire. You just need much more than 1KG worth of powder. Not to mention, half the time it's an engine bay fire, and you can't easily, and do not want to completely open the bonnet, so you're left pretending to be an American Infantry... Spray and Pray baby!   And then 100% that shit is really destructive afterwards!   Realistically, those little ones at a race track might help you keep the fire from growing and give the fire marshal / truck a chance to actually get to you with their multiple large bottles.   For a road car, these days, prepare to deboard as quickly as humanly possible, and move to safety. Allow insurance to fix replace it (unless it's like a rare classic etc, then do nearly everything possible to save it!) Keep the little extinguisher with you to help protect other things around you from burning while you stand there singing "How can we sleep while our beds are burning?"   Secondly, powder extinguishers I freaking hate for indoor use, (this isn't really relevant to a car) as you will get a powder fog around you, and it can be disorientating.   When I did fire training when at BlueScope Steel, they have (had?) their own fire brigade on site. We did all the training, and at the end we were told, "If it's an indoor fire, and you need to use a powder extinguisher, we as the fire brigade would rather you just exit the building, you're more likely to get lost in the smoke and powder fog than do much help, so just GTFO" And pretty much that was what they said for most other fires too, grab extinguisher, if it's much more than paper in a bin fire, use extinguisher to get you and others out of the building to safety...   Part of me wishes when my Skyline caught alight many moons ago, I let insurance sort it out, instead of putting the fire out... part of me now says "But I've saved a classic before it was a classic!"
    • Hi all,  I have a older model of the Greddy Front facing intake on an RB25DET NEO Head. I've bought aeroflows fuel rail and injector kit (1000cc Bosche injectors) and I'm unsure if the fitment is correct. The injector o-rings fit in the intake hole but it's not snug. I can very easily rotate the injectors even when the fuel rail is mounted. The kit also came with multiple adaptors, they dont make it any more snug and using them raises the injectors up and i cant mount the fuel rail. I hope this makes sense I've asses a few photos.    Thanks so much guys.
    • So, to run the 4g aerials to the booster, I had to get access to the rear bulkhead....bit of a mission. Hot tip, don't offer to help change the rear shocks for a mate with a v37.... Remove seat base, 2 clips that slide forward to release it the it lifts straight out Fold down rear seat (pull in from boot) The side bolster of the rear seat is not connected to the middle parts that fold. To remove unbolt at the bottom bolt then push it up off the top hook Then there is a plastic surround behind the seat back, 2 pop out clips, 2 bastard clips, some swearing at it is out Pop the rear seat latch surround off Remove door surround lower trim then side trim  Remove c pillar trim - 4 clips, pull inwards not forwards Remove metal brace - 5 bolts 1 nut Then you have got to the rear strut top...what a pain!
    • If you really want squish back, you can have it put on the piston (at least to some extent).
    • Impressive. He's very very smooth.
