Hey peoples,

Im new to these forums as im sure you can tell,

Im also looking at getting myself an R34 in the coming months

My dilemma is this:

I definatley want the R34 but im not sure whether its worth paying 18-21k for a GT or spending the extra and paying around 25k for the GT-t

I do want it turbo charged whether i buy it like that or have to do it down the track (preferrably already done hence the Gt-t)

Also looking for something as close to stock as possible but i mean if the price is right then some modifications wouldnt be so bad.

Also if anyone can point out some of the major differences (or even just minor ones) between the two models it would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

dunno much about differences but i'd say go for the GTT.

SHOULD have better brakes and suspension etc (please correct me if i'm wrong)

Also, make sure you get a workshop who are knowledgeable in skylines to do a thorough check of the vehicle prior to purchase.

Both will be money pits, the Gt-t will be slightly less in the long run as far as modifications go.

Most skylines come over from Japan with some bolt-on goodies, depending on what exactly has been fitted could also save you some time & money.

The R34 I bought already had a HKS pod Filter, HKS B.O.V (plumb-back), short shifter kit, turbo timer, some decent rays eng. mags, aero bodykit with nismo rear bar & a sunroof which was a bonus. I was able to negotiate it down to a lower price than other equivalent R34's with less or no mods at all, so it pays to haggle & shop around.

Good luck with your search & be sure to post a pic when you do :)

Sweet, well looks like the GT-t is the way to go, i was leaning that way anyway.

Yeh i enjoy driving heaps, not to mention i have a fair hike to work and back every day, or should i say night, (well is 3am still considered night if you started work in the evening?) but that leaves me with nice open roads all the way home, not that i speed or anything?!

I do want it Turbo'd eventually either way, strengthening the need for a GT-t straight up

As far as a sedan goes though, i'd prefer the coupe just because i find it more pleasing to look at lol, mainly the rear from the wheel arch back

And yeh fo sure, when i get it pics will be uploaded!!!

Turbo'ing a GT isn't as simple as just bolting on a turbo. Its actually easier to replace the entire n/a engine with a turbo one...and for that matter, its easier and cheaper to just get the GTT to start with. There's also a lot more to the GTT than just the turbo. I'm not sure of the specifics but at least the brakes will be bigger on the GTT, to counter the extra performance.

Whether you wanted a turbo or not, I'd still recommend the turbo car. The n/a would just feel a bit lacking in performance and at some point you'd find yourself either wishing you'd got the turbo or selling it and buying the GTT anyway. (I did exactly that type of thing with a nissan silvia s13. sold the n/a one and bought a turbo'd one that was almost exactly the same except for the colour).

So as far as advice goes, its very simple. Buy a Stagea :) nah just kidding, I'd say get the GTT - you wont regret it :)
