Hi there,

In the last couple of days i've noticed my folding mirrors don't really 'stick' very well. When I fully open, the drivers side clicks repeatedly until i flick the switch to the middle. Doesn't do it when i close them. The annoying thing is when fully open, after awhile, they turn in slightly, and i have to flick the switch to open them again. Also happens when I close the door a bit too hard. Is it the motor of some kind of gear inside?

Simple but have u checked all the screws? Maybe the wind from driving is pushing them back in slightly.. Unsure if they have any type of sensor to make it stop pushing out but if a mirror is loose maybe it is moving enough for it to keep trying? my Mirrors on my 31 r a bit loose but no problems so far, touch wood apart from the knob black Silvia driver on St Greoges Road who decided to try and rip it off.

The reason is because they get a bit stiff, mine would only come out about half way.

Pulled them apart, cleaned and regreased them and they work fine now.

There is no contacts in there, they work off a timer or something I think.

Yeah it's definitely the wind when driving that pushes it back. Also if i slam the door. I'm not fussed about folding the mirrors away really, it's just that I hate it when I check my mirror and it's off-line.

Might give it a go opening it up and giving it a little clean and grease. I've read that it's quite tricky, have to remove door panelling etc before undoing the 3 screws under the mirror. Can anyone with a little experience shed some light?
