  • 2 weeks later...
Cage was a pain in the arse. I have the seat as low as I can. I am six foot and can't really see the front left side of the bonnet. The whole time my head was either resting or bouncing off the cage to the side above the window. Probably wouldn't without the padding. I will have to find a solution.

Sounds silly but have you thought of adding some spacers to the outside of your seat mounts to angle the seat towards the middle of car. I have to do this to mine and it is comfortable.

Don't do it Dane!

Already done Mike... engine has been sold :(

so you decided to get the radical?

Sure have Dave. Very hard decision but one that made more sense for me... I think.

Cant believe you are selling it. Completely understand wanting a Radical....but you need to keep the 180!

I've just had enough of it Troy, and don't feel the same love that I once did. It's still an awesome car, but the Radical is much more awesome-er and gives me more opportunities in the future. It's also easier to sell and move on if I so decide. I keep pumping money in and don't see any reward for it so financially it makes more sense for me.

yeah keep both! failing that sell me the stack dash. me need it for new car. ;)

Would love to!

Stack dash will be available if you want it mate? I'm trying to move as much as I can in one hit before stripping it down, but I can make an exception for you if you want it big sexy :P

I hear you. I spend so much time thinking about an R300 race car with S2000 running gear. But every now and then i do skids in my car and the love returns. Plus, i can only get say 13k for mine so will never sell it. Renting an apartment with no gargae is what stops me from getting a dedicaed race car...so perhaps thats a good thing :D

Stop talkin about poofy real race cars :D

This is a Skyline forum, get your RB love back out :)

I got bored saturday, pulled mine apart a bit more.... I've decide to put the GTR gaurds on that I've had for ages, and pump the rear a lot.

Roy has also very kindly sent me his spare TD06 truck turbo kit to try/buy. Thanks again mate :)

I'm on the hunt for some 18x10.5" wheels in GTR offset guys, if you have/know of any?

I figure why run the car in "slow" Targa spec all year in the hope of doing one event. I think it's easier to mod this car how I want it, and if I do decide another Targa is on the cards, just to buy an already setup Emo and sell it or put it in the rubbish bin after the event.

I'm sure if I had of driven it again my love would have returened, but then I would have spent another 10k on it and it would be off the road again and I'd be dirty that I'd passed my chance to get a Radical.

I fully expect to part mine out to get the money I want/need. As whole cars they're just not worth much! An R300 with S200 running gear would be all sorts of awesome. Funnily enough it was your video of the R300 at Spa that got me thinking about this lightweight race car business, and I just couldn't get it out of my mind.

TD06 and 18x10.5's sounds the coots Ben :D

Bring the rims in from overseas mate and get exactly what you want. You could even grab some Enkei's from the US for a good price brand new.

thats the best think thats ever left your mouth. besides cum. haha.

its probably hard to justify having a car sitting in full targa spec thats not realy competitive on the track when you may use it once a year. plus for the cost of events like targa you can race a whole season of circuit.

and i especialy like the idea of buying emos to throw at the scenery.

it sucks dane but i know exactly why it happens. projects take too long and you just loose the love. you get no enjoyment out of a car that just sits in the garage or the workshop for years on end and still costs you $1000 a year to keep registered, another $1000 to keep it insured (and you just know as soon as you let either lapse something happens), and then there's the thousands and thousands and thousands buying bits for it hand over fist and the most enjoyment you get out of any of them is the moment they arrive in the post and you get to play with them all shiny in their boxes and then they disappear somewhere like the rest of the stuff and on goes the 'project'.

I went through exactly the same thing mate. i decided to take it off the road after a very small hiccup and then went ahead with a $25K engine build, plus another probably $20K or so of bolt ons for it and in the mean time I had other cars I was enjoying so it just say in the shed for nearly 2 years. in the end I realised it was nuts and spent a measly $1000 to get it back in exactly the same shape it was before. and now I LOVE IT again. every time I get in it I remember all the time I'd previously spent making it what it was and how much I enjoy it. I only fixed it and got it running to sell it but now not sure I can. ;)

still lets talk about dash. what I really need right now is more expensive, superfluous, racing gear.

^ +1 Baron!!

Luckily my S13 track car only took around 10 months to complete, but it's always constantly evolving and costing much more than expected!

There is certainly no subsitute for getting in the car and just driving it!

Too many people get caught up into the modifying trap and get in "project" mode to get the car up to certain spec.

It's fun building them, but even more fun driving them!

You're exactly right mate. I love the excitement of modifying the car, but the satisfaction quickly fades and them I'm onto the next thing. I also have a lack of time these days and would prefer something that is ready to go when I am rather than ferrying the car around to get alignments, tuning, modifications etc. Where I want the 180 to be is a costly, time consuming place and at the end of the day the Radical is quicker, provides more potential for racing down the track and parts for it are reasonable with quite long service lives due to the cars weight and lack of power/torque. They're also super exciting to drive!

No doubt I still love the 180 but I just came to the conclusion that it was the wisest decision for me at the moment. Let's hope I was right!

Sorry to hear that the 180 is on its way Dane but bring on the Radical. After seeing them at PI a few weeks ago at the PIARC day I know what you are in for :ermm:

The one thing I cannot wait for is taking it around PI! Downforce and slicks around there will be absolutely insane

dude you will love it at PI. haven't drive one there buy done some passenger laps in one there with garth and turn 1 at PI FLAT with two blokes in a car is scary in anyones book.

they are mental at PI. I think you drove ec right? it's great but storming down the straight at PI and turn into turn one with no brakes is scary shit.

now give me a drive you bastard. I'm not to proud to beg for drives. :P lol. happy to offer any of my crap in exchange but I doubt you'll want to drive anything I own after the radical.
