Roy,

I put my R on the scales at Wanneroo. With me in it & a full tank of juice the numbers were:

Front 906kg.

Rear 687 kg.

Total 1593kg.

So in perecentage terms it works out to be 57/43.

Now I weigh 100kg, a tank of petrol is about 50, so there is still a rather eye watering 1440kg of Nissan to lug around. I didn't do the corners one by one, however.

Ride height won't affect the static weight distribution, but it will affect the wheel loadings when the car pitches under brakes.

The usual GTR weight distributions quoted are 62% front and 38% rear, that's no driver and limited fuel. Corrected for that the above looks like;

-----------------------Fuel-------Driver

Front-------906---------------------20----------886---------61%

Rear-------687---------50----------80----------557---------39%

Total-------1593--------50---------100---------1443------- 100%

Pretty close.

:sleep: Cheers :)

Um I think you got the weight distibution for the driver back to front - or atleast it should be closer to 50 - 50. Which makes it a bit worse than 61/39! This on top of the fact that I have had some work done to try & make things a little better.

No problem, I have done quite a few conversions to coil overs for the Skyline guys who do a bit more circuit work and have the tyres to take advantage of the higher spring rates. Basically the conversion consists of;

2 x Front Main Springs

2 x Rear Main Springs

2 x Rear helper/tender springs

4 x Coil over conversion kits for the Bilsteins

You have 2 choices in springs, Eibach (the best) or Whiteline, pretty damn good, made in Europe, cold wound on a hydraulic coil winding machine.

The full conversion is $980 using Eibach springs and $790 using Whiteline springs, that includes delivery as usual.

The valving in the Group Buy R32GTR Bilsteins will handle up to 310 lbs/inch (5.5 kg/mm) on the front, which is around 40% more than what you currently have. The rear Bilsteins will handle up to 260 lbs/inch (4.5 kg/mm) which is around 25% more than what you currently have. The most common upgrade for the track day guys is 275/225 which works very well with the usual R type tyres (RE55, A048R, R888, D01 etc)

R33GTR Bilsteins will handle slightly more spring rate, R32/R33GTST and R34GTT slightly less.

The conversion is simple, most definitely DIY and should take less than 2 hours if you know your way around your car.

Delivery is pretty much overnight as I have most items in stock, Eibach occasionally run out of some spring rates though.

Obviously I can revalve the Group Buy Bilsteins if you are running a full slick that requires a higher spring rate.

PM me for more details.

:action-smiley-069: cheers :D

SK, I tried to PM you but your inbox is full (has been for some time). Email didn't work either.

Anyone have any suggestions as to how I can actually purchase this stuff?

    • Welcome. Dont let anyone dissuade you from your dreams. If you want a gtr, keep sabing and you will eventually get one. I feel like if I had have bought stocks, those companies would have gone bust and I would have lost my money.  There's a gamble in everything we buy. I've had good times and bad. But... I've also met my absolute best friend through this network and can't imagine life without them(more like a brother). Keep in mind, some specific mods will change as technology gets better. If you feel like general chat, there's always the wasteland.....
    • Those are some very cutesy barriers! Is that common?
    • Saw this abandoned Honda Fit in a carpark that was getting repaved... they just 'cut around it' and continued with the job! There's a number of reasons why the car could have been abandoned, but as for the construction company, legally they don't have permission to move the car from the owner (who has moved on and can't be contacted) so all they can do it just leave it there with enough space around it so it won't get damaged.
    • You’ll want to have the block drilled and tapped to suit 1/2in head studs and the head for the same. How much power do you intend to make?
    • Sorry for resurrecting an oldish thread Not much has happened in the past year since the last update. The car did another 1000 miles or so and failed the MOT for the first time in October (failed on tyres which had been advised for a couple of years) In October the car got put up for sale and was removed in November due to no interest, being so close to christmas it was to be expected. The roads were dry in February so I decided to tax it early and get the new tyres fitted.   Fast forward to April, I got someone in to give the car a good clean after sitting for the winter.                                 The car got re-advertised and today (Saturday 3rd May) the car sold. The new owner is planning a GTR conversion at some point and a respray in the same pearl white. It's bitter sweet, it's a shame to have the car sit there for half the year and then only do 1000 miles. The kids are growing too quick and space in the back is getting limited. It's been a great 6.5 years of ownership
