eta to skids?

Collecting new exhaust manifold and newly modified rear turbo housing this week, then need to install motor and work out oil pulley size and order belt to suit. Then the tiniest bit of wiring, a tune and the skids. Before this time next month would be good as that's when the first Sydney meet I want to race at is on.

But then this: Rd 3 – May 18, 2008 - Compak Attak, W/Syd Int. Dragway, NSW

sick moit

just make sure u dont break it before august for rd 4

Picked up the new manifold and modified exhaust housing today. Both the manifold and exhaust housing have been coated with the latter being modified to accept the 50mm Turbosmart Pro Gate. They look sensational. Leigh from Extreme Turbo Manifolds does exceptional work! Couldn't be happier!!!

It's very shiny now but I wonder what it will look like once it gets very hot a heap of times. We'll have to wait and see.

itll go fairly dull white, not yellow though. the stuff on a mates housing hasnt flaked either

Yes it has Shane. Its just starting to flake on the underside of the housing closest to the manifold. I am surprised it lasted as long as it did.

Take plenty of pics of it while its all shiny and new Adrian. It will soon turn to a much duller silvery grey. Looks bloody magnificent as it sits.

aargh i see, well atleast it hasnt flaked the spots where u can see :D

ah i remember ur car in a magazine (2rismo). dude how the hell does a stock turbo flow enough air for 300kw plus atw when its rated at around 300hp?? and ur motor served u very well!!! mine was making 280hp atw with stock turbz @ 13psi and the no1 cylinder rod spun a bearing and the rod snapped!! ggrrr oh well ur like me n fix things properly haha i got a fully forged motor with greddy intake man, gt35 with 6boost manifold and turbosmart gate, also microtech computer and all supportin mods. cant wait till the engines done ye ha!!

Hi Mate. The stock turbo never went anywhere near 300kW at the wheels. When the story in HPI was written, the 300kW comment came from me being asked how much power I thought it made to run 120mph. With its weight at the time and the terminal speed, I came up with a figure of just on 400hp at the engine - I converted this to kW for the benefit of HPI and that was that. The most the car ever made on a chassis dyno was 265kW (see attached graph). Without the nitrous, the car made just over 190kW (255hp) at the wheels which is about right for a maxed out standard turbo on a half-decent pump fuel tune. (I know that others have made more than that by 20 or 30kW)

Good luck with the rebuild, mate. It sounds like it should be a good thing. Make sure you take it to the track.

Adrian

tell the truth, you had a 300 shot in it ;)

Lol!! No, but jeez I wish I'd had the presence of mind to predict the engine letting go - I may just have given it a couple of hundred instead of the 100hp shot.

Are you going to use the NOS shot with the new setup?? Again, I suspect this is going to be a damn fast car soon.

What was the reason you went for the gate on the housing? Also, did the manifold get match ported to the head? In the pics it seems as though the exhaust ports are very round, doesnt seem to be the typical shape?!?!?!

I sit back and think of your car back in 2000 when it was sitting at BD4s and was getting punted at tracks with corners ;)

lol yeah a sad decline. I'm working with Paul that originally owned this car at the moment - he's currently got a golf gti and has had about 5 cars since he sold this one - I reckon he is still missing it

What was the reason you went for the gate on the housing?

you wont find a better way to get optimal boost control, it will literally cut off as soon as the gate opens where most spike then tapper back down

looks like a killa setup your peicing together dude, cant wait to see the results
