Just stopped in at Profab to find all the work done. The piping has all been done and improved (less joins and now alloy instead of steel) and the dump, gate and some other stuff has all been finished.

Tomorrow morning it goes to the auto electricians to get some wiring extended for the IAC motor, oil pressure warning light and switch and the AFR meter connected, and then from there it's back to the workshop for fire-up.

I've got next week off work to get it going and tuned. Cannot wait.

I also have to thank Greg from Turbosmart for his support. It's a sea of blue under the bonnet now with the list of Turbosmart gear now including:

- 50mm Progate

- FPR-1200 Fuel Pressure Regulator

- Fuel Pressure Gauge

- Supersonic BOV

- EBoost 2 EBC

- Turbosmart Silicon (lots)

It's all great stuff and dead easy to fit. Their tech support guys are pretty bloody handy too!

put me in for twenty, seeing that the car will be in my shop next week..cough cough... i feel a bit sick..might only feel like working on my car...

Cooler pipes finished today and car at auto-elecs getting oil pressure warning light and AFR meter wired. Just have to run a line to the ECU's MAP sensor and then we'll fill it with fluids and fire it up.

You've got a bet, Paulie! One shiny, silver 20-cent piece and a cold beverage sound fair?

Game?

:P

Bring on jambo. keen as to see it in action. :O

Lots of tight bends, and reducers.

Where are the mandrels?

Don't need the expense of mandrels when the inside of these pipes is every bit as smooth. The changes in dimension on the intake pipe to the turbo makes no difference (and will be removed for racing anyway) and if the rest of the pipework was the same dimension as the outlet of the compressor cover, it'd be some bloody small pipe. It's all good.

Definatley needs chrome lol

LOL! :O

With all those tight bends it will be interesting to see the pressure differential between your turbo (making the boost) and the plenum (pressure going into the head)

Which tight bends are you talking about mate? The one off the turbo? Show me another way to do it or how mandrels would have helped and that's what we'll do.

Also, you need to remember how the piping was done with the standard intake. This way takes about a metre out of the length of the pipe compared to the centre entry plenum.

Im not knocking it dude, and I can easily see it is the only path for it, just interested in how it will affect the pressure.

Sorry, it's my engineering background nit picking.

I know mate. It's less than ideal but unfortunately, that's all these boats allow for. Besides, pressure drops can always be made up for with some extra boost. :O

    • hahaha @joshuaho96 the most action it gets is when I have to drive from West to SE VIC to meet the fam. Even then, it;s on highway cruising speeds
    • don't know anyone in this thread, but i just found it, read the entire thing in a few hours, realized greg is still posting progress, and just have to say, this is awesome. it looks awesome. 100% right about the Uras kit making it a pain to get on hoists...have the same kit on my 34 and it takes six 2x4s and race ramps to do it without taking parts off. this reminds me exactly of this thread. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/build-projects-and-project-cars/r63-amg-the-unicorn-of-my-destruction/110824/page8/
    • The only way to make that better is to weld on some bozozoku tips up past window height and roll with the cool kids.
    • I'd want an even MORE side on view. More or less you want to make sure the outlet is actually square with the outermost part of the bumper. Or you end up getting soot all over your bumper from your hektik exhaust. In any case, it looks pretty close. I think the way to fix this is probably more of an overhaul at an exhaust specialty shop if you want tips that are rounded off or sit nicely with the bumper but have proper clearance and don't move - Probably more of a redesign than a quick fix. I've pencilled in my own exhaust with its own various problems, pinholes, PITA fitment, and other issues and can see myself going to a shop and saying "JUST DO THIS BUT BETTER?"  Which is gonna work better than any more small fixes. I'm gonna chime in here officially with "from an outsider perspective this exhaust looks fine so this is self OCD probably" (which I also suffer from)
