This is how a bunch of people suggested I mount the injectors:

First problem is having spacers machined up was a pain in the arse, second was how far out the injector sat from the hole in the runner and third was having the injector seal and seat properly. I grabbed a set of pre-fab bushes that use an o-ring around the outside to seat in the standard intake but even the biggest 14mm o-ring was too small to seal in them.

This meant I had to drill out the standard runners to suit the larger body of the new injectors. It has a slight taper on it now and because the injector sits further down in the runner, it now also uses the factory rubber bush from the side feeds for some extra support/sealing.

This is what it looks like now.

While the intake was off, I removed the barbed water fitting at the back (I hate push-on with a passion) and welded on a -6AN fitting for the water feed to the turbo. You can see it at the very back of this photo next to the back of the left rocker cover.

Also mounted the thermo fans correctly and modified the fuel filler door signage... lol.

Tuning it this Thursday.

nice work brother, fits nicely, and doesnt leak, well the front half of the car anyway.

who was the brainchild behind mounting the injectors like that? he must be very clever...............you would think he had done it before lol, with less hassle though. maybe he should get a job designing top feed injector kits for rb25......oh wait they already are available. whats that, they dont fit........you have to remove the intake runners and modify the seats, no-way.

now lets boost this eco-friendly monster.

Let's see, it's the Nissan loom with different injector clips on it...

Swapped my old e-Boost2 for a new one yesterday. Thanks Turbosmart!

The new version has sexy new features (that I won't be using) but the design is much better than my old one. The vacuum line isn't fixed into the back of the head unit and the electrical plugs are flush mounted to the backing instead of sticking out. There's also no more silver bolt poking through the back.

Don't get me wrong - 335kw is a good level of power, but I would have thought even on a low reading DD and through an auto - 335kw would be a bit low for a built/cammed RB25 on E85 running 22psi and revving to >8000rpm? And mid 5000rpm for full boost, even with a 1.06a/r hotside? That, and the fact the power goes flat makes me wonder if something weird is going on - trans slipping, or an air leak?

Either way its clearly got the goods to go fast, but I really was kinda expecting more power than that.

Feel to set me right if I am missing something. Was there any reason you didn't go for a more aggressive boost level?

The power going flat is a function of the big converter. It's not really going flat as much as the left side of the graph is artificially full because of the flaring converter. Air leak? You think we wouldn't have found that? Come on man. :)

I mentioned that I need more spring in the gate already (only has a 7psi spring right now) and that I can only see 21psi no matter the duty on the EBC and I made a guess at what it will do when I wind it up. No Sherlock Holmes'ing required dude.

Haha don't worry, I figured there was more to the story than I picked up on - but you gotta know to understand :P The converter thing makes a lot of sense, I've not really been exposed to them before but have seen quite a few dyno plots from auto cars which look like that... hadn't really thought too hard about it so cheers for the explain.

Sounds good, and sounds like there is more party to be had which makes me happy - looking forward to hearing what she does when you hit the strip with the latest setup!

    • I did a skidpan night at SMSP this week, it was much cheaper than $350. But yeah, you need to slap an LSD in that thing.  I put an OS Giken in the 370Z and it's f**king MARVELOUS even compared to Nissan's viscous LSD. So you're saying it's free now that it's a housing estate? 😂
    • Nah, the car seems to run exactly as it did prior, in saying this it does "seem" to be better down low, like more eager to rev, but that may be 100% placebo effect from intake noise But, I'm not worried about it at all, in the end it is a fairly low compression NA engine that has a well shrouded intake,  if it is getting hotter IAT I cannot notice anything negative performance wise from the seat of my pants thrashing it about on the street or sitting in traffic, so meh, car now now makes induction noise so I'm happy
    • Do you have an IAT sensor? It's worth checking it to see. You may be suprised how little gap you actually need to flood your engine with hot air. (I tape up my airbox for a reason) :p
    • @KinkstaahKrinkle paint the "silver" alloy, not the red filter frame Engine bay heat won't be a issue worth worrying about as the silver alloy blocks it off on 3 sides, as for the top, the bonnet seals most of it and the big OEM CAI intake snorkel is still fitted in its original position  I will head into Clark's Rubber when I have some time to grab some pinch weld to tidy up the alloy after I paint it As for performance, I honestly wasn't expecting any, the only reason I got it is because the intake noise sounds cool to my old ears when I'm feeding it the beans Sometimes it's the silly things you do in in life that gives the most fun, and I do love anything that makes cool car noises In other news: I survived 4 nights at sea with Jackie not throwing me over board, holidays are continuing now as we are currently chilling at the Beachcomber in Toukley, after taking the coast roads from Sydney in the MX5, top down all the way, Toukley is where I spent a good deal of my youth holidaying during the summer months, there's lots of reminiscing going on,  and lots of beaches and old houses to visit Next on the list is to head to Batemans Bay for a few days, but we will take the Commodore out to stretch its legs, then Commodore hasn't really moved for months
    • There’s probably people who’d like to do it and then when it comes to putting their hands in their pockets they’ll all disappear into the shadows
