I have a 95 r33 gtst, to be honest im very bored of the wing and front bar.

My car is currently the series 1 blue w/ grey trim around the bottom. No body mods apart from a set of 17s and lowered suspension

What kind of front bar do you reckon would look good, without any other body parts like sideskirts etc? Basically just looking for a nice looking stockish front bar with a nice big hole for my intercooler

And what kind of rear wing do you reckon?? im a bit bored of the M spec wing i have (although it is pretty sick) Im kinda leaning towards a GTR rear wing

post a pic up, but front what your saying you got series 1 wing, the little round 1.

good way to start is to get a trial/gtr style front bar and series 2 rear spoiler. it wil change the whole appearance of the car. im fittin my new trial bar today. will post pics 2nyt so you can see what i mean.

Since you just want a front bar and a wing ... let's not even talk about anything else.

Here's what I suggest... A GT-R front (has a very good hole of the intercooler) and a Jun rear wing perhaps.

You may notice that nearly every man and his dog has a GT-R front bar and a GT-R wing... perhaps you might want to look a little different.

I know I did.

The look i like (and will be going for in the near future) is the GTR wing with Nismo lip on stock R33 S2 front bar, a lot of people have this combination but it just looks perfect, not a fan of some of the flimsy looking aftermarket front bars

Yeah id go for a GTR wing myself i find they just look really nice compared the stocko ones :P as for front bar i think dmd makes the GTR do luck style bars for the gtst i think they look awesome and not there heaps popular either which is even better :)

Ive just got a MSPORT front bar, being sanded and painted on monday, cant wait. Will post pics when i have it mounted on.

I got it for $180!! RRP for $495

Cheers.

I cant wait to see those pics, that was such a good bargain.

Yeah im leaning towards a GTR wing, i think they look tough as nails really!! lol

Im looking for something that fits really nicely into the lines of a stock looking r33, coz i hate that look of a big front bar, and it looks massive compared to the rest of the car when it doesnt have accompanying sideskirts.

My other problem is the goddamn grey trim around the bottom of my car, im thinking of going blue all over, and getting rid of the grey skirts??

definatley go blue all over man, it will look much better imo.

Definately paint the bottom half of your car in blue - it will look really nice then.

I reckon you should just get the factory m spec front bar for the series one and cut the middle out where the number plate is attached to - giving you the cooler gap. Get some factory side skirts off an m spec and paint em matching blue as well. Top it off with a gtr rear wing or stealth wing and it will look awesome - because it will be suble but a lot better than what you currently have.

I have a genuine gtr wing on my car but the pic in my sig is old... love the gtr wing!

i was looking at an r33 for sale today, and i had an idea which i thought might look good.

What about an m spec style front bar?? i would like to keep the stock indicators, plus it would match the blue with grey trim paint scheme, and it would suit the lines of the car since i dont have side skirts. Is there any brand of front bar that is very similar to an m spec style front bar, but with a nice sized opening for my FMIC? or would i just have to get an m spec bar and cut out the plate holder in the middle?

I reckon the factory series 1 blue wouldnt look all that flash without the grey trim, although ive never seen one that is that blue all over, has anyone seen one that is the series 1 blue all over??

1 colour paint job will kill two tone no matter what colour any day of the week. With only an exception made for the veyron

The most expensive part will be just getting the new components, skirts front bar etc painted because if you decide to go Factory m spec kit you could pick one up for pretty cheap off here in the for sale section probably. Cutting the section out isn't a prob either and can be done with a dremel or something simular but you could just ask the body shop to do it for you. The m spec bar will bring the front of your car quite lower than the type s one you have and will look 100 times better. Esp with the cooler behind it. Ive just got my cooler behind the factory s2 bar and with skirts and gtr wing it looks the goods. Parts themselves (if you use 2nd hand factory parts like m spec bar and skirts) should only cost you a few hundred dollars or so and you'll just need to get a few different quotyes regarding paint.

Also a lot of the aftermarket bars are quite elloborate in there design which is why a factory m spec with number plate cut out will suit the car perfectly. A good aftermarket bar though with a huge cut out for cooler is the trust bar. You will definately need skirts and 1 tone paint for that bar though as it is mega low!

Yeah the trust items are huge! I feel in my opinion that with the wheels i have, plus a gtr wing and an m spec front bar will basically keep the same style look that my car has atm, but toughen it up a bit.

Ideally i would love to buy a full kit something like a 400r kit or gtr kit, and go a full respray, but i dont really have the required 5000 or 7000 odd dollars to do all that.

I dont really want to take the risk of going the factory blue all over either, since ive never seen an r33 in that colour all over before, spend the money, then hate the colour. Has anyone got any pics or seen an r33 in that blue without the grey skirts?

On the plus side though, my cooler will fit really snugly into an m spec bar w/o the plate holder, it measures up almost perfectly.

I reckon maybe even a nismo grill to replace the standard series 1 grill?

M spec kit plus gtr wing will look the best for that tough but no over the top look. so yeh it will be a good choice. I'm not sure if its a nismo grill but the best grill for the series 1 with m spec bar is one that is a black plastic mesh with a red 's' for the gtst in the middle. Looks like the chrome 's' on the series 2 bonnet but instead is red and in the grill. My mate had it on his series 1 with m spec bar and looked really good heaps better than the venetian blind grill that the standard s1's have... It may very well be a nismo item i was never really sure.

As for the paint, do whatever you feel you will like. Personally i have always thought two tone to be a bit old skool. But i can see what you mean with the weird blue colour. You are probably just used to seeing it in two tone as well. Maybe doing some photoshopping would help you decide.

Yeah agreed, i really dislike the venetian grill, but by what you described that grill will look really good. The nismo one i was thinking of is exactly the same kind of deal you are talking about, except instead of an s it had a nismo logo in the bottom right hand corner, looked pretty cool.

The two tone isnt my favourite, but i will have a trawl around the net and see if i can find someone thats done that kind of paint scheme, it may look really good for all i know. I went to the svi website last night and there was an r33 in the gallery that is the exact same paint as mine, with a pretty extreme body kit, didnt look as bad as i thought, but that being said, a more exciting colour all over would still be the balls.

I have a genuine gtr wing on my car but the pic in my sig is old... love the gtr wing!

Glad to hear you like it! You can't go past the GTR wing for the R33. It suits it just right. :D I wouldn't have sold it to you if I was keeping my Skyline. :bunny:

Post up some pics of it on! ;)

    • Uncle Duncan Yeap, FI Interchiller  Works well, normal IAT's cruising with the WTA only went from 50°c+ to 25-30°c with the interchiller  Before, when on it hard, the IAT would see 80-90°c, now, the highest has been was around 38°c IIRC IAT is measured under the blower hat I recommend it for the street or strip where your only on it hard for 10 or so seconds, but it wouldn't be efficient for sustained track use as it would heat soak from the AC turning off or whatever it does during WOT to protect the compressor It really needs the AC running for it to not heat soak and keep the WTA coolant chilled My WTA coolant temps when just cruising is around 2°c
    • Hey Mark...sorry to interrupt your career change to hair dressing... but...did you ever fit the interchiller to the commodore, and if so how was it? And, who made it?
    • I've been pondering this, I really enjoy the convertible thing, for me, it's like riding a motorbike, without all the issue of riding a motorbike, mainly, my old sore arthritic joints getting beaten up, and, being able to do it in shorts and a T-shirt and not needing a helmet and all the other gear required, especially like wearing jackets and pants in the summer, or needing 6 layers of cloths in the winter, or not having wet weather gear handy when your 100km away from home on the bike when it decides to start raining As for the hard top and its Coupe look, whilst I do lose all that open top feeling that I really enjoy, from my experience with the NB with a detachable hard top, the cabin is a much nicer place to be, the difference in noise for one, a hard top quietens down the interior, alot, with the soft top up or down it's pretty noisy, which, after 5 or so hours, can get tiring But, as you stated, the detachable hard top totally changes the look of the car, in a really good way, and for me, the look of a detachable hard top is so much better than the PRHT which looks more like a after thought with its weird bulbous rear roof line For me, the minimal effort of putting in on, or storing it after removing it, is well worth the time and effort for the look alone And yes, I'm sure the next owner will be grateful for it as well.......
    • I get into huffs with people when I suggest the MX5 looks so much better as a coupe than it does as convertible. Pretty sure I don't prefer the convertible version of anything. Good job on the hardtop! The next buyer will appreciate.
    • IMO wrap does have its uses, but like you said, quality wrap, and professional installation, would probably cost want a quality paint job does, but, the paint, if maintained, is basically for life, and much easier to touch up if required  In other news: it's pissing down here, with thunder, lightning and only some small hail "at this stage", luckily all "my" cars are undercover  I've also been contacted by a guy in Newcastle about the SS, he said he will come down next weekend for a look, we'll see how that transpires I guess 🫰
