On Sunday 12th August the Hobart Sporting Car Club and the Italian Car Club will be holding a day of Super Sprints at Baskerville Raceway.

This is a great day to thrash your car round a track and have some fun (roll cage is not mandatory)

I beleive there may be some drifting as well, GMB?

Trophies will be awarded for fastest lap times in various classes.

The cost is $60.00 and you must belong to a registered car club to enter.

Regards,

Rod.

I had a good day once i got there, the track is completly diferent to Symmonds, but heaps of fun.

I somehow managed to get driver of the day, pretty stoked with that. And the other Ben (tas_180) got best drifter who drove of the day.

Well done, What times where you doing Ben, I read on n/s that Ben in the 180 did a 101???

So pi$$ed I had to work.

i didn't see my last time sheet, but my best on run 2 was a 1:04.11. But on the last untimed run of the day i recon i was faster, i used diferent lines and gears.

180 ben was doing 1:01's, and so was the other GT-R.

I think a lot of people were very impressed with your efforts out there sav man considering you hadn't even driven the track before. Had some Great speed out of the sweeper then into turn 1. Was good to watch

Well done :nyaanyaa:

Thanks again for those tyres Ben, hopefully i can get them on the rear and allow me to use more than 1mm of throttle out of every corner ;).

For someone who hadnt driven on the track before you picked up the lines very quickly, you definately deserved that trophy mate. Racing against Rod's GTR makes me want a GTR now, damn torque monsters even in mild tune.

The pink XU1 (even though not original) would have to have been my favourite car out of the lot. MMmmm... :D

I didn't go but it seems that GT-R is starting to handle pretty well Rod. :D

Well done, some great times by the sound of it. Not sure I know who Tas_180 is but a great effort also!

Anyone have any official times? eg 1.01.?? (got to keep an eye on my competition ;) )

You guys entering the next hillclimb?

BTW there's an MCC super-sprint on the 19th (unless something's changed) so for those who didn't make it this time here's your chance... ;)

(I won't make this one either)

My best lap was hand timed by the HSCC as 61.7 and by the old girl as 61.6. Rod was around 61 flat from memory.

My car will get smashed to pieces if i enter most hillclimbs. Dont plan on raising the car so dont think ill be seeing many hillclimbs anytime soon.

Wont be out next weekend either, car needs some TLC before it moves again.

    • I found the same with Subaru’s.  I own and love the SG9 Forester, after that model 2008+, Subaru threw the ugly stick at all their line up and somehow managed to make them look worse with every succeeding year.  lol
    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility
    • I'd say one thing that may make you sell is the same reason the guy with the hard top roof sold his. He got old, and his back was giving him too much grief stopping him getting in and out... Old guy said he was 73! He looked and sounded younger than 73 to me! Or maybe I'm just aligning with old people more...
    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
