Wondering what the general opinions are out of these two...

my feeling is that the 2j is the better engine (stock capable of 800hp safely, better oil feed etc etc) however imo maximum response is king anyway and that is going to be within 300rwkw which is plenty within the 25's safe roof when you add some forgies to the equation.

supras can reach 300k's from stock but that's got allot to do with the gearbox (6 speed getrag v 5 speed on the 34)

imo, 2j = better block and rb is better head.

both cars are about the same weight.

both cars are single turb - most high pwr supras have a single conversion.

and the 25 for the sake of this discussion includes the 25/30 conversion and also the 28 stroker conversion.

does anyone know the weight balance of the 34 gtt? i know the supra is something crazy like 47% on the rear and 53% on the front which is dam good i think! hopefully the 34 is around the same!

i don't want to admit the supra is a better car!!!!!! back this up ppl

another supra vs. skyline thread, cant see this one lasting long but hey, as for the debate

too bad buddy, supra is a better car  and your right, response is better than stupid power numbers, and the supra still has it there too, with an extra 500cc and sequential turbos. skyline will handle better though, but iw ould definately have the supra

Agreed, Supra owns GT's

If you want to do a much more closely related comparison use a GT-R

Supra's and GT-R's are about the same in price range too. Old Supra(3L twin turbo) about the same as an R32, new Supra(3L Twin Sequential Turbos and VVT) about the same as an R33.

but if the skyline has 25/30 and is forged also where is the benefit now? apart from oil issues etc (iv been told is not too hard to fix with the neo). same displacement and same choice of turbos.

and i just read the 34 would handle better? if that's correct then same power potential and better handling? why is the supra the clear winner?

not going from stock cars. this is a thread where each car can have whatever suspension/engine refinements done to it. oh yeah and that included having an LSD on the GTT to match the supra!

you could even think of it like this. supra VVTi RZ $35k or 34 GTT $25k so you get 10k to spend on the 34 to match the supra...

id take the supra over the GTT anyday

totally different ball game, even if the r34 has 10k on it.

u spend 10k on a supra it will probably do a flat 10 without touching the internals.

nuff said.

and no more f**king VS threads.

i thought we were gonna stop this?

the supra will walk all over the gt-t.

flat 10 on a supra is going to be a single big ass turbo that is only good for top end. good for qtr miles but not racing.

get a flat 10 out of a gt-t and it is going to be just as bad. you don't get a 10 second car by having a turbo that makes full boost by 3500rpm.

I have owned both and i would have to say it depends on what you want the car for. The 34 is a great car but needs a lot of money spent to get big power reliably, the supra on the other hand has a totally bullet proof driveline and its not just the 2jz engine, its the 6 speed getrag which comes standard not to mention the 4/2 pot brakes and huge rotors on the later model supras. I believe the supra to be a better handing car than the gtt as well, it only on old supra's with perrished bushes that this will not be the case(who cares as most will run coilover's at some stage). The supra will put the power down much better as well and can fit 295's under the rear standard and 305's with just a rolled lip on the guard. My cousin is currently putting down 327rwkw in his supra on stock us spec turbo's with just an exhaust, filter, cooler, 044, 680cc injectors, avcr and a power fc. This a great figure in anyones language, especially on stock turbo's. Those figures are just scratching the surface as there are now many 800-900 rwhp supra's on stock internals in the US and our fair share growing in Australia as well.

All in all, the gtt is a great looking car though so is the supra. It's just that the supra is a much better built car in every area except maybe interior where they are both full of cheap looking plastic.

Supra all the way.

well thats my point. it wont be a 10 second car. it will be around 300rwkw. which is what i'm saying. well within GTT limits.

racing performance, ie. maximum response not a lag monster to destroy 400m....

i don't understand why the supra is so much better?

3 litre 2jz - redline 7k (without more work)

car weight: 1570 or so

any suspension/ body bracing setup

any turbo setup

any lsd

3 litre 25 with forged internals - redline 7k (without more work)

car weight: 1480

any suspension/ body bracing setup

any turbo setup

any lsd

both are obv rwd and both have the same choice of turbos given that the 25 would be sorted with forgies etc.

so what exactly makes the supra the clear winner??? aerodynamics :)
