There was a quality drop with compressing for Youtube, the helmet cam was making an annoying 'clunking' noise, so I covered it with music instead and will look for a better way to attach the helmet cam next time

BTW - Hillclimb at Fairbairn this Sunday.

SAU Track Day in the GTS-T - Dereck can tell me if I have kept my lines or not :pirate: LOL

The white 33 was interesting to follow, even if I did have to slow down/stop for it a few times

Cheers

what sort of times were you getting Michelle?

I don't know LOL I didn't have any timers, if the helmet camera speed is accurate, we should be able to work it out by watching the clips, I wouldnt use the one I have there though, too many interuptions, I can put up some of my cleaner (uninterupted) runs for that. As you can see in the clips, our speeds were pretty similar on the straight, but I was caught behind them in the tighter sections.

We should go out on an open day and time each other, although they're pretty busy too. The SAU day wasn't too busy, it was fabulous.

I'll use any excuse to get back out on the track :)

your lines look pretty good. would be better next time if you tape the camera to the side of the passenger seat or something similar, that way the image will look 100 times better (trust me, im a cameraman!).

i haven't been on a track in ages. i hope your enjoying it, cause when the funds dry up, it really sucks.... :) i think you and i would have an interesting race. last time i was there, i was passing GTR's + EVO's with more mods than yours, but was losing at the corner exits, cause i've only got rwd...

good times, good times.... :)

Sweet.

Yeh like Frink said, its heaps better when stuck to a passenger seat. Myself and a friend made a steel bar that was held in by the 4 steel posts that go into the 2 seats from the head rests on my Pulsar when I had it, was awsome, didnt move at all except for when the car did, plus you could see the guage cluster to see speeds etc, ill see if i can find it and put some pics up.

Im looking at going up for a day soon when I get the car on the road again to get some practice time for a race coming up, so maybe a few of us could go up. Im thinking start to mid September. (race is end of sept)

Count me in!!!!!

Have a look at the Wakie Calendar... we should pencil something in.

I just spoke to reception at Wakefield, they have the 21st pencilled in for a "Speed off the street" day at this moment, however she did warn that Fridays are popular for private bookings (at approx $2100 a day + ins) and may be changed to a private booking.

She suggested I call back in approx 2 weeks and see how its going then. She also explained that the 90+ cars I experienced recently on a weekend was very unusual and even caught them off guard. For example, today only had just over 40 cars.

So we could pencil in 21st Sept and if it ends up being privately booked, we can reschedule to the weekend.

I'm even happy to share my helmet cam around if you want to try it out.

If you want to buy one... the simplest setup I could find was also one of the cheapest options. See ebay

Oregon Scientific ATC2000 Waterproof Helmet Cam with 2 GB SD Card

The same seller had different prices for the same item, so look around for the best deal on the day, I paid US $129.95 + US $20 Postage to Australia, converted... all up around $179 with 2gb card, delivered in less than a week.

I bought from seller: kleenmaint

http://stores.ebay.com.au/DONNAS-OUTDOOR-ELECTRONICS - check out the savings to be had on buying one without a card and getting the card for about $20AUD separately here. ie there is one there "buy it now" from same seller for just over AUD $100 without card.

8 available http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ATC2K-ATC2000-AT18-...oQQcmdZViewItem

The pros are its self contained, single unit, easy to operate. The only con so far is that I guestimate where its pointing and havent done too badly, but you don't have a view finder to see exactly where its pointed.

Cheers

    • I have done smoke test and can’t see any leak on high or low side.   checked pump and fluid can flow through. Removed the high pressure from steering and did smoke test and same on low side, no leak.   puzzled. Thinking why if it was all ok it suddenly went as car was off road for a year. Don’t want to disassemble pump yet as i can see fluid / air( compressor) can flow through with no issues
    • Which manifold mate? Meanwhile......Mark is wondering how bonnet vents would look on the NC 🤣
    • Actually,  just remembered there should be info in the threads (somewhere) about swapping to a manual steering rack and deleting power steering all together.
    • Also had a look at the Nissan JP website looks like the 400r has a slightly shorter ratio than than the regular V37 3.133 VS 2.937 which from a guy who has driven both 3.69 vs 4.11 ratios in the S15 is bugger all. Seems that the AUTO Z runs the same ratio as the 400R but can't find any info as to if its an open or LSD? More often than not the auto LSD is open
    • Do not replace the power steering lines with this stuff. If it's anything like the Chase Bays stuff it will leak and be worse than stock. The reason why the reservoir is on the LH/passenger side of the car is because that's just where the reservoir was most convenient to fit. Don't overthink this stuff. The intake/cold side of the engine is pretty busy on these cars. And again, the hardpipe is designed to be a janky power steering cooler. In theory you can replace it with a real power steering cooler but that's really only for track use where boiling the fluid is a distinct possibility. Start with the low pressure lines feeding the pump from the reservoir. Make sure there isn't a bunch of junk in the reservoir filter. Be careful to not get ATF all over the engine bay. I hate dealing with ATF spills, you can clean it up and the slightest crevice will still release more oil that can still drip over time. You also want to inspect for leaks before you make a mess and can't tell what happened. Most likely you have a leak somewhere that is allowing fluid out and air in. Failing that it's allowing air in but not fluid out. Only place I can really see that happening is on the low pressure side because the pump will pull a slight vacuum to draw fluid in. Everything after the pump is high pressure or lower pressure, approaching atmospheric by the time it returns to the reservoir.
