Hi all,

I am looking at hearing peoples experience with these two turbos. I have heard a lot of good reports about both and still a lot of people are using both. The only person I know who has used both turbos on the same car is simon A31 but he didnt reply to PMs. So your experience would be appreciated.

Hi all,

Slide hi-flows fairly much just bolt on with you're stock equipment. kkr requires a v-band flange for the dump pipe and a screamer or plumb back pipe for the wastegate.

I do all my own work and they are the same price "fitted" so dont worry about the extra stuff that the KKR turbo will need.

I am wondering about longevity of the two turbos and spool up time and overall power output. Just a comparison really of the two turbos.

the kkr's usually come with everything you need to make a dump so fitting isnt really a problem (some come with oil lines). as for reliability - ive got no idea. im pretty sure theyre a journal bearing turbo (for around $900 they're not going to be ball bearing).

unless i had some solid results id be going for a slide hiflow.

Ive Pondered Both Options, ableit KKR480.

But decided to go Garrett GT3076. As Ive changed direction with the car.

If you want to wait I would go the Slide Hi-Flow, As Aaron isnt doing them for a while,

If you want a Turbo now go the KKR, HPI had some good results with a KKR 480 on their RB24 and the LS1 Edit Gen-TT systems use the 330s/380s and I havent Heard of anyone having problems with them.

The Wastegate flap is inside the Exh Housing so a split dump/screamer is out of the question + You can buy the V-band Dump Pipe To suit RBs now from Otomoto.

Hope This Helps

Andrew

wouldnt be disappoointed either way, hiflow is probably safer option, i had one from gcg, geat turbo. and no problems selling it when i went larger either. theres always someone wanting a hiflow but as for a kkr430....well who knows.

Yep. SLIDE isn't doing high-flows anymore, so your left with no option there, unless you decide to go with a GCG high-flow which is a fair bit dearer than the prices which SLIDE was offering.

I prefer high-flows my self as they are guaranteed 100% bolt on, only slight modifications to oil feed line for greater oil flow but nothing more than that really.

Plus they look stock, and you can never get in trouble for having an after market turbo.

But it really comes down to want you want to use the car for. Do you just want heaps of power, or do you want to use it for drift/track/street/drag? Or maybe you want it to be really responsive with no lag? And it goes on.. How much power are you chasing?

Anyways, I am just a bit confused with this thread. Subject says KKR430, but in the replies people mention KKR430 and KKR480.. lol

Just wondering if someone can clarify which turbo is a good comparison in size to a SLIDE RB25 high flow for RB20.

Thanks

no im not the wanker who didnt do the oil feed modification, infact the builder of the highflow turbos done my oil modification and sent it up with the highflow...so before u go and point fingers i aint that fkn stupid.like i said i wouldnt bother with a highflow.

lol thanks for the reply guys.

I already have a highflow on order and it is just taking way too long, that is why i am considering something else. So thanks for your help.

Seeing as there is some bad rep for the highflow turbo, Any bad rep for the KKR turbos?

So this is only on the KKR480? When you are saying wastegate flow problems I am assuming it is not flowing enough and over boosting?

My experience was with a KKR280, firstly had to replace a faulty exhousing, then had to mod it extensively to stop it overboosting, not much fun-pulled the turbo off 3 times on the dyno.
