I have just replaced one of the rubber hoses (the smaller diameter one) on the power steering resevior. I didn't get a chance to start the car as I had to get a new battery. So when I installed the battery and started the car I noticed that the PS pump was cavitating (making weird noise) so I thought well its gotta be low in fluid so I topped it up and noticed that there was a huge gap of air in the middle of the reseviour. When I start the car it just turns whatever fluid is in the resevior to foam and the pump keeps whining.

Im just gonna give flushing it out a go and see what happens.

Any ideas what this might be?

Yeah make sure itf full when its running and bleed the system lock to lock then turn it off and let it sit for a couple of minutes then restart it. This is often a good way to remove aeration. The only other thing it could be is if its drawing air in the new hose you fitted. Check all hose clamps on the entire P/S system for leaks and tension.

Deren
