Y30, Y31 Cedric, Gloria

Recommended Posts

Were both the Y30, and Y31 Cedric, and Gloria available as a wagon?

What engines were available in the Y30 Cedric, and Gloria?

I know both the naturally aspirated 2 and 3.0 liter versions of the VG, the same twin turbocharged 3.0 liter VG as found as the Z32 Z-car, the diesel version of the L, the LD28, and the diesel version of the RB, the RD were available in the Y31 Cedric, and Gloria.

Can't remember seeing any of these in wagon form. There is a Crown wagon of the same vintage which looks a little like a Y30. The VG30 turbo motor in the Y31 has a single turbo producing 190kw, while the Z32 engine is twin turbo producing 206kw.

They did come as a wagon, but Europe and Japland only, to my knowledge.

The Euro/OZ versions all came out with the first incarnation of VG30E. In Japland they were available with both the VG20ET, VG30E, VG30ET, RD28 diesel. They were not available with the VG30DET or VG30DETT. The Y31 was available with these later VG30DET variants.

OZ spec were all automatics, were as the Euro wagon, AKA The Estate, came as a 5 speed stick shift. Japland models seem to be less structured, with the manuals seeming to be an option on most models. The Estate also came as a 8 seater column shifter.
