Howdy, just after a little info....

Does anyone know of a workshop here in Adeliade that has had good results in tuning the standard ECU?

Ive asked a couple of places but they just tell me theres no one who can, then they try and sell me a PFC or somethin else...

Reason is i've got (at the moment) POD, 3"zaust, B.Button clutch, High Flowd standard turbs, large FMIC, raised boost.

I wanna fit the bigger fuel pump, larger injectors(550cc), and maybe EBC(runs 16 psi, but spikes then drops to 15). Also are there injectors that drop straight in? What about high flowing the standard injectors? Anyone know a place in S.A. that can do a good job? Can these items be fitted & run with the standard ECU?

After i get this extra stuff fitted i wont be plaing with it anymore, so thats why i'm asking bout the standard ECU.

Sorry bout asking heaps, but theres sooo much info to learn...

Thanks heaps :O

Martin Donnan used to do it at tillbrooks, but he now works ar Morpowa, so try both of these places.

Series 5 rx7 injectors, are high impedence 550cc and fit streight in the fuel rail with only the electrical plugs needing changing. I had these in my car and had it tunned with the std computer, but there were problems with down low running as they are very big injectors for a 2L engine. Im just running the stock injectors with a 044 pump and making 235 rwkw. So you wont need to change unless you want to make more whcih you wont from a highflowed rb20 turbo, just get a 044 pump and a pressure reg. A part of the reason i think the injectors go further is the 044 pump, there are other pumps that will flow the amount needed but the extra size of the 044 help push the injectors further. There are no other injector choices that im aware off, but Martin didnt like the way the rx7 ones behaved and it runs good with the stocckies.

If you have any questions please ask.

i've got a r32 ecu i've been ripping to pieces recently. the maps and everything are easy to change (dr drift has got retuned maps for these). changing the K constant on these for larger injectors is fairly basic and only requires a chip removal and rewrite

does Morpowa run an EPROM emmulator to tune the stock ECU on dyno? im looking to build one for my R31 ecu which run the same map locations etc as the R32s

Martin,

ATM my car is running 1bar boost, and last dyno made 200.3rwkw. It was tuned by yourself at tilbrooks earlier this year

I am quite happy with this, but want to go a bit further with my HKS 2510 turbo to try and keep up with a few mates which are developing their R33's further.

My qusetions are, with a Bosch 040 in tank pump and no regulator, what are the stock injectors good for?

Also, what boost could I run (max) with the tune you did.

I was thinking of going for 1JZ VVTI injectors, similar to what John from tilbrooks did with his RB20 Commodore. I don't really want to put a reg. on the stock injectors, as the car is driven quite hard and would like some safety margin there. And would the stock computer be able to run these as good as the factory injectors?

I'm hoping for around 220rwkw which will hopefully see me keep up with my mates in there big turbo'd R33's

cheers, Chris

Don't know all that much about them myself. I remember a article in zoom about John from Tilbrooks RB20 Commodore. It said that he had got hold of some 1Jvvti injectors, which were a straight fit apart from the plug needing to be changed. From memory, they were 420cc, so they would be good for a every day car, with the ability for around 250rwkw I suppose

Just need to know from Martin if this is correct, and I might try and get some.

Yeah, I think they are reasonably hard to come buy

I will send Martin a PM to see what he thinks

Chris

P.S - got myself a kart on the weekend, a bit rough, but it will do for a bit of fun. I guess you'd be a good person to speak to if I need to get parts for it?

Yeah no worries i can help you out there.

If you find out let me know because on thursday im going to towommba with the karts and someone i know will be there who is building a IJZvvti engine, 600hp from memory to go in his M3, so i can find out if he still has the injectors. If i don use them then you can get them off me.

Ok will do. I will also keep a eye out for another set, if you get these other ones.

The kart that I have is a Omega Racing kart, bought it for $50!!!!!!! Has a 100cc engine, spare set of tyres, new chain and sprocket. Started it up last night, needs some fresh fuel and a clean etc. I'll take a few pics and send them to you.

Looks like we have hijacked this thread - whoops
