Hey - got my SAFCII fitted & tuned today! Very happy with results. Mech. told me I should have used the Power FC instead - I said he shoulf pay me the two grand!!!

Anyway, I had a massive (read BIG) overfuelling problem on standard settings and the graph rose to about 90rwkw then dived at 4500ish rpm (falling below 70 rwkw) only to recover to 93ish at high revs. YUK!!! I knew that "boost was more than BANG...whimper...splutter!

So, at the same boost (10psi) it now looks (and feels!) the business with a smooth curve all the way to 6600ish rpm and 137rwkw. At 5500rpm it's now making 51 more KW! ! ! ! ! ! Money well spent it seems. What a relief!

The air-fuel ratios were previously dipping below 9.0:1 from 4500, and all the way to redline. With ratios now in the 13:1 to 11:1 range through the boost range, the engine can finally breathe!

Not bad for less than $800 altogether, including fitting and tuning!!!

The peak figure seems a little low compared to some of the guys on this forum, but I have tuned my previous car on three dynos, and the last was on this guys. My little NA VTEC produced 95+rwkw on two dynos, and then 77rwkw on this guys, so I've got a feeling it's one of those "conservative" figure producing dynos. Maybe I've got 150rwkw - who knows? - and who cares now that I've got the whhoooooossshhh back - and the punch wherever and whenever I need it.

iijj

PS wonder what 11psi feels like....hmmmm....just for a blat, maybe!?!

The SAFC will not change fuel economy of a car, cos at low rpm where the car spends most of its time, the ECU is running closed loop (and the SAFC's low throttle map corrections are cancelled out in the end) Only at WOT if your leaning it out some gains are to be had, but WOT chews fuel anyway!!! My fuel economy got worse when I got my SAFC, because I put my foot down alot more now :)

Hehe, you make too many assumptions about my driving style :)

But yeah, I agree you won't much difference on the highway cycle economy. But with a lot of stop-starting, it can be slightly improved with the S-AFC, especially if you have your foot down a lot.
