Which class do I go in with the 79 Toyota? ;)

Heh Heh The 79 Toyota is ME :P

Dunno whats goin on there...

Ne hoo... I spose i had a pretty shit day.

After a couple of months using every free hour i could to fix my car... i made it to sandown...

At some stage druing the 4 laps of the practice i appear to have spun a big end bearing..

Bad Times..... :ermm:

Oh well these things happen... time for some more work to be done.. (and more cash to be spent)

Any way i finally got around to getting the vids of my camera and posting them up.

The Corona, This was my last practice lap, thought i'd start to build up the pace...

From the camera footage i reckon it was about a 1:41.. for what its worth.

If you listen closely you can hear the sound of my engine eating itself...(i couldn't hear it at the time, through the helmet)

Bigbird putting down a 1:32.8 in the racing SIL80

The mighty B puts down a 1:43.02

LAG in the Datto with a 1:31.7

The LAG gives the Sandown Armco some lovin!

The footage is not great for some of them, especially the sound... was filmed with a pretty cheap lipstick camera.

Any wayz, Bring on next year... hopefully with a new engine :D

Enjoy

Fark that was a reasonable hit - what speed were you doing when you hit? Did it hurt? I think you were lucky to get away with what you did....

What caused it? You were pretty far over on the right when it happened....

Snowy, I love the SMAUG plate now I know what it means, ( I never read "The Hobbit")

but I reckon there is half a second in it if you remove the front one from blocking the FMIC on that Toyota!

It hurt my neck a bit but not until later that night, the 115 y.o. st johns man checked me off on the day to say i was alright tho  i reckon i get to around 200 at the end of the straights and i had just put on the brakes so i reckon i left the track at 170ish, i'm very lucky to have only damaged myself and the car in fairly minor ways.

rear brake bias was up the shit so the rear locked up and just sent me sideways i had no chance of getting out of that one!

Its great fun fanging around in a 35 year old car with a nice smooth(ish) modern nissan powerplant under the bonnet. i'm keen for a full season next year for sure!

Yeah i'm not suprised you have a bit of whiplash... that was pretty high speed and could of ended a lot worse.

Why did it only happen to you on that lap? just braking later/harder?

Sorry to see.

I know we are drving our road cars as quick as we can and its likely something a little astray with our cars, but i went in at the same place as you. though my car swung the other way giving me a little more space. But considering the coin Sandown has from running V8s etc etc surely they can do something about the surface changes and bumps. Sure the track may lose some of its character but it is very bumpy and dangerous in the braking areas

Hope the repair comes along nice and quick without too much coin being thrown away
