Looking at a Apexi SAFC with loom and mount on ebay. According to the seller "It does not say anything about r34 Skyline, however, in the section about Skyline it says RB25DET year model 08/1993, it shows switch setting for that motor and location of ECU in the car. Also a wiring diagram for that ECU. " Does that mean it's alright for the RB25DET NEO stagea? It's a pretty old one with the dials, no screen as the pic shows.

Short answer, DONT get it :)

Look for the one with the blue screen. This is the SAFC2. These work much better than the old type (the one you mentioned).

You should be able to find one either on this forum or on ebay for around $200. The v1 of this model has buttons whilst the v2 has a knob. The v1 is what I have and will do the job fine or you can get the v2 for a bit more money and it gives you the option of 2 different maps and more tuning points.

Not long ago you could buy the v2 new (nengun.com?) for around $400ish I think...

If you buy it off this forum (like I did) you will be more likely to have all the correct wiring as well :)

Ok cool, it'll have to wait then. I should really get a turbo back zaust first though. I actually quite like the look of the standard twin pipes though.

I would also recomend trying to source an Apexi SITC (ignition timming controller) as well, because although the SAFC will allow you to adjust your fuel mixtures it will also affect your ignition timming seeing as its a voltage bender device so while modifying you AFM voltage signal to the ecu (fooling it to think there is more or less airflow) to adjust the fuel mixtures will also make your car run more timming and could cause pinging etc... This is a basic explanation anyway. Mind you seeing as Apexi hasn't made these for some time now they are pretty rare. I looked for months and finally found one on Ebay in Japan. Cost me about $270.00 delivered here. But you will also be able to run more timing down low to further help with fuel consumption and better off boost response etc... Its worth the wait

It will run ok without one of these. Mine's hitting 160awkw just fine and there's still room to move to increase that, within the limits of the fuel pump/injectors.

But I agree that the SITC will offer a big improvement in tuning capabilities and also in fuel consumption AND quicker boost buildup!!

Yet as you mentioned, they are so rare that very few people have one...

they were a couple of SITC on ebay couple of months ago for USD199 ...suppose they're all sold now. I've just bought a brand new sitc for $320 delivered from Japan which i reckon is a good price as they cost about USD50 to ship on ebay anyway.

You may want to do the exhaust first and hold out on the SAFC/SITC as there's been interest in the Greddy Emanage ultimate on these forums. The Emanage retails around $800 which gives u the ability to adjust both fuel and ignition and has datalogging capabilities. Would be worth to see what the reviews are on this.

    • Damn, as someone who just glued the damn things in (very slightly askew but better) I wish I saw this, or someone made this. Would be worth linking this to Boosted International. They're always looking for product ideas and this is something they would likely make.
    • You know what, I'll double or nothing. Save your money, buy a V8 Manual Mustang in 2 years and have a more fun street car with better support and all that. I often tell people "if I could do it all again, I wouldn't". Sell your R34 GTT to someone, spend the 20k in difference between that and a 2018 Gen2 V8 Manual Mustang. I'll bet you will have the $ in your pocket by the time you spend the ~20K differential on mods and get them installed. Just planting this seed for future regrets. Blah blah, wisdom of people who would do it differently who are at the end of the road you are just starting on, etc. Car modding is often death by a thousand cuts as you wait to afford the next big mod. Imagine a 2 door Skyline with a 330KW N/A V8 Revving to 7500rpm like the RB25, with 315's all round.
    • Yes I'm going through a similar thing with my R33 with rust in seams due to dried out seam sealer cracking. After much research I settled on Penetrol. Read what it does and its done a bloody fantastic job for me. Pressure pack comes with a thin tube to get into hard to reach places.
