Hi everyone, I am an official in the Targa West Tarmac Rally which is on from 6th - 9th of September. The organisers still need help in the form of volunteers (and cams approved officials if there are any). They are mainly looking for Spectator Marshalls. If anyone has any time free to get involved that would be great. You get to see the event for free (or part of it), and receive a free cap & T shirt, meet some new people, and take part in a historic and growing event. It may also give you the chance to meet some of Australia's best drivers.

You can register online at http://www.targawest.com.au and go to "Volunteers", fill out the form. People are mostly needed for the Sat 8th & Sun 9th, but if anyone that can do more it will most appreciated. Contacts are all on the site if you have any questions.

Anyone wishing to be just a spectator should also see the website for the best and up to date info.

Good guys, thanks for all that are doing something. It should prove to be a really good event. With enormous interest already being shown in this year’s event and big name competitors such as Jim

Richards and defending champion Ross Dunkerton confirming their entries. Tony Longhurst is also coming over for the event in a special car.

I'll try to acknowledge people as I drive through. Just so you all know I am driving my Bayside Blue S2 Stagea as "Advance 2"..... should be easy to see...... it now looks like this.

There will be 5 other Stagea's as Course cars, and a V35 4 door Skyline.... all courtesy of Autowholesale.com.

Here is a snippet from the Targa West website.

The opening day of competition at the 2007 QUIT Targa West tarmac rally will be run in memory of the

great Australian motor racing legend Peter Brock.

12 months on from the tragic accident which took Brock’s life on the first day of the 2006 event QUIT

Targa West Director Bob Schrader said organisers are keen to ensure that his memory lives on through

the sport he loved.

While the day will be one of high emotion for the whole motor sport community, organisers are keen to

ensure it is run as a celebration of Brock’s life and memory as opposed to a ‘memorial’ event and are

honoured that Peter’s brother Lewis Brock, his partner Julie Bamford and his co-driver from last year,

Mick Hone will all be present for the start of the rally.

The three will be visiting the Thursday prologue and the Friday morning rally start in Forrest Place in the

heart of Perth, where they will have a chance to catch up with friends from the world of motor sport

including Bathurst legends Jim Richards and Tony Longhurst, both of whom are competing in this years

rally.

Hey I'll be there as a chicane marshal, I'll be in white DR30 rsx so if ya see me come say hello as I'm new to this site :bunny: and don't know anybody yet.

Well, make sure you keep an eye out for the chicane team driving around in a white XF panel van - 'Sme!!!

Sadly won't be in the DR30 as the FJ has had a little malfunction, but I'll still be there with a few of my Datto mates in a red FJ powered 180B wagon, and yeh Dale will keep an eye out for the might Falcon panno :) . And lets hope for a better year than last year hey.

Thanks for everyone that did some time. We had a ball, and I hope that you all did. That was one very eventful Targa. Even Jim Richards & Barry Oliver said it surpassed all their expectations.

See my post at http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=181972 for a couple of photo's of some of the Stagea's.

Yeah was a great event except for the incident involving Spectator 2. Lol He`ll have a nice bruise on his leg today.... Ohh and your Bayside Blue S2 Stagea looked sweet.

The marshalls i had this year did very well and i was pleased to have them on my team....

Looking forward to it all over again next year....

Unfortunately due to other commitments I wasn't able to make it to watch, but just want to say a big well done to Steve Jones, who ended up 4th overall in the Modern Class, up against some big names, well done.

1 1 Porsche GT3 RS Jim Richards 1:43:16.0 0

2 63 Skelta G-Force Tony Longhurst 1:45:26.0 +2:10.0

3 59 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 Ross Dunkerton 1:45:40.0 +2:26.0

4 73 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8 Steven Jones 1:46:52.0

I made it to a few stages on Saturday, caught the end of the first run around the Bindoon stage then headed over to Coondle West then stopped for a feed in Toodyay before heading out to watch the Toodyay stage.

I should have brought some extra jocks as Jim Richards' GT3 RS made me very happy in my pants several times.

And Kudos to the Holdens (new monaro, SS ute and a VH GrpA) that put it well sideways everytime they passed the spectator points :)

Couple of nice fat Toranas but I didn't see ANY skylines.. was there any? The only Nissan I recall seeing was a pretty stock S15..
