hey everyone, been a member here for a short time and havent really introduced myself, so id thought ill do it now,my names josh and i drive a gunmetal 1993 r32 rb20det manual,

recently had an accident (hit a pothole which spun me out cudnt gain control in time) ran up a gutter and smashed my passenger side into a tree  the shell/chasis were pretty much beyond repairable, the whole running gear worked fine and still turned ova no worries so i had to source a new shell took me me a week to get my hands on 1, so this is where the rebuild starts....

14th of july: got a car trailer went and picked up my shell got it for $1100 from abc wreckers in oxley reason i got it cheap was because the guy didnt want the shell he wanted the motor out of it cuz he had plans of puttin it in a mitsubishi pajero :) i dropped the shell off at my girlfreinds uncles place (got a big workshop there) then went and picked up my car and brung it over as well. We first started taking out intercooler, radiator disconnecting lines anything that would get in the way of gettin the mottor out, we then disconnected the tail shaft from the diff then from the gearbox, unplugged most of the electrics, while me and a mate were working on all of this, my girlfreinds uncle was cutting the radiator support off the new shell (it was bent to the sh*thouse) and that summed up the first day

15th of july: started ripping off panels, seats, heaps of little bits and piece, disconnected my exhaust (not a single scratch on it from the accident :( and then dropped the motor and gearbox and front suspension out and wheeled the old shell back, another day over

21st of july: jacked the rear end of my old shell up, took out my fuel tank and hooked it up to my new shell, we then dropped my rear subframe out and assessed the damage (snapped tie rod, snapped upper controller arm, bent camber arm and split my diff :domokun: ) and called it a day

22nd of july: went to "all automotive import parts" at seventeen mile rocks TOP PEOPLE I HIGHLY RECCOMEND THEM ;) and picked up the parts i needed, except diff as i couldnt afford it atm and camber arms as im going to go aftermarket. went out to my car, and slapped on these parts, decided not to put the subframe up yet as it wud b alot easier to put the diff in. from there we fiddled around on bits and pieces and then fnished for that day

25th of july: few parts that i bought over the net were starting to arrive (camber arms and so on) so it was go ahead with the subframe, went down to all automotive picked up my diff went out to my car put the diff and camber arms on and bolted my subframe up!!

28th of july: got my radiator support off my old shell and welded it on to my new shell, fiddled around on a few other things, assesed damage on my front suspension and motor etc. (just needed a new fan shroud, castor rod, and lower controller arm) went down to all automotive again to pick up the LAST parts lol,

29th of july: started transferring things from my old engine bay into my new one (power steering resovoir and so on) hooked clutch pedal up (PAIN IN THE ASS!!!!!) replaced my lower controller arm, dragged my old shell out of the way, so we are ready to drop the new shell over my engine .......

SORRY I HAVENT TAKEN ANY PROGRESS PICS BUT I WILL START TOMORO

    • My stuff is all with Shannon's, granted, I don't really have imports I'm driving on the road, however, I've had multiple cars at the same time with them. Presently we have the Landcruiser on laid up cover, Sarah's Kluger on full cover, and the house insured. About 18 months ago Sarah wrote her Subaru Liberty GTB off, insured with Shannon's, and the payout, and buy back of the wreck was super quick. In 2020 we had the VF Commodore totalled in a major hailstorm. Storm was on the Saturday, I called on the Sunday and lodged it, vehicle was towed on Tuesday night, assessment team called on Wednesday to say it was a total loss and get payout details, money was in the bank on Thursday morning. Have had a few other claims both at fault, and not at fault, over the years, and never had an issue with them.   Funnily enough, they're also the cheapest insurer I find for things like Sarah's Kluger.   I will say I'm less impressed dealing with them lately around "the experience", as a lot of their staff that you deal with aren't car enthusiasts. Shannon's has a much more main stream feel ever since they decided to become "big corporate", laid a heap of staff off, and then hired a bunch of non enthusiasts. At the same time they've been making a push to be less "call us and we'll personally have someone who cares help" to "hey, this computer can do stuff for you" and are trying to get more square pegs to fit round holes. (That's just the vibe I get from them). Again, have had no issues with claims with them, but get a bit of a "less personal" feel from them.
    • A thing I wasn’t happy with with enthusiast was during the initial phone call they told me they’d insure it for 130k but needed photos.   I then sent them photos and they told me $80k as there were other cars either similar modifications available for around that price, I told them to send me the links to said cars so that I can buy them. i then sent the modification list with prices of the parts (no labor) and the price then came to 115k, which is still shy of the 130 that was agreed in the initial phone call
    • Ask me a bit later this week before payday
    • I agree that delayed payment probably isn't the most suitable solution. It seems a solid complete transaction would be best. As I wouldn't be using this sale as a line of credit that would typically earn interest, we can probably arrange a much cleaner single transaction deal. I can do $92.52 today. Would you prefer EFT, or Cash on Pickup?  😛
    • Oh man what a deal.... Funny enough (well not really) I sold a car to some old dude (buying for his Daughter) on a Saturday, He asked if she could take the car now and pay me the money on Monday as the bank wasn't open. Needless to say I told them to come back with the cash or get f**ked! Luckily the money seemed to magically appear in his pocket a few minutes later, so it all ended well (for me).
